Do you think Microsoft will now push Bugthesda to release a remaster of New Vegas?

If they make a Fallout 3 remaster, which seems all but inevitable after all the rumours and the Oblivion Remaster dropping just like that, New Vegas seems a logical next step - it's a game which shares the same engine and assets.

I just hope they aren't cowards and use it to touch up New Vegas, instead of just The Same Game With Better Graphics. Restore content, bring back the original map size plan, integrate the DLCs with the main game and each other (so we can do things like telling Veronica about Christine and telling Caesar that Joshua Graham is dead and we killed him, etc), expand on the Legion, revamp the combat to be closer to FO4 and 76 in shooter action, etc. A New Vegas freed of its horrible Gamebryo early 2010s shell could likely last decades just with the mod community tinkering with it.

I also like to dream and think wishfully.

I sure as shit don't want Bethesda attempting to restore any cut content in a New Vegas remaster.

I would support a corrected Enclave PA suit, with that asinine vent on the back removed, and the Fallout symbol restored to it.

Honestly there are only two RPGs that I'd —want— to see done by Bethesda:
Lands Of Lore IV (which they won't do, because it's too close to TES), and a full FO3/TES clone set in the Palladium Rifts world setting;
IE. Rifts RPG... a post a apocalyptic TES set in the age of Cyberpunk; based on Palladium's Rifts IP.

Realistically, the only cut content they could reintroduce would be things that were basically finished but couldn't be added due to time constraints, like Rotface's quest or the Brahmin companion.

Adding things like expanded Legion territory and new dialogue lines would need to be created wholesale and we know Bethesda isn't capable of matching Obsidian's style of writing. It would stand out like a sore thumb and not in a good way.

Shit, I don't even want modern Obsidian to try to attempt that. Unless the twenty senior developers remaining there alongside Sawyer and Avellone as leads move into a separate office building to work on it. Disavowed's writing is a prime example of "You Write, What You Read".

We all know for a fact that Todd HATES New Vegas for proving that he and his cronies don't understand Fallout for shit.
I don't think it's the game itself that he hates.
I think it's the seed of upstaging that it sowed and inadequacy that followed.
Todd is very politically correct when it comes to this kinda stuff though.
If he says he loves it then that is the PC thing to say.
What matters is his actions.
While Zenimax might own the whole shebang at the time he still could pull weight.
And yet, nothing, no more Obsidian or other third party collaborations.
And the games he are involved with actively miss the point of FNV.
Then we have the whole metacritic fiasco and Bethesda being responsible for the QA.

So what are his actions?

Especially after Witcher 3 upstaged them even further.

As to FNV Remaster, I would say it is absolutely going to happen because it's easy money but then again... FNV is a buggy fucking mess, let's be real, and it isn't even Bethesda who made it, so do you trust ANOTHER third party to crank open the hood and fiddle with things for a remaster? Who knows what kinda shitshow that could end up being.

One (minor) thing that bothered me about FO3 and New Vegas was that the PC is often toting around a minigun, but is thwarted by flimsy locked doors. Fallout 1 & 2 had crowbars that allowed opening locked containers and stuck doors. I wouldn't mind if they added that feature into New Vegas... at least for locks that won't break the game if opened early.

That's egregious.

That would be like having Warhol, or Jackson Pollock remaster art by da Vinci, or Michelangelo.

I think people need to realise that the Obsidian we have today is not the same one that made FNV, that ship of Thesus sailed a long time ago. Fallout was just 13 years old when FNV was released; the old Interplay crew had just been out of business for a couple of years. Obsidian today is a mess, which hasn't written a great game since Pillars of Eternity.

The creation engine has killed Bethesda; they insist on using it as they're the only company with extensive knowledge of it, thus making themselves invaluable to Microsoft. At the same time, CE has reached the limits of what kind of games it can produce. It's too restrictive, and no update can solve the fundamental core issues. In general, I believe that Bethesda is a company on life support; they can not produce new games, which is why remasters are the only things they can "produce".
