Double fire mode for (Sawed - Off) Shotguns

the_move

First time out of the vault
Well I really missed that in all FO episodes.
Since Shotguns IRL can fire both barrels simultaneously it
would be nice to see the same firing mode in FO.
It should not cost an additional AP, since both shots are fired at
once. The penalty would be the reload, which will occur more
often.

With that feature shotguns would have been my favourite in
FO Games.

Shouldn't accuracy be an issue, too, with all that recoil? Seems to me that there should be a bigger penalty than just having to reload more/longer.

Recoil is only a matter of burst fire.
The first shot is always accurate, since recoil occurs after the
first round fired. Both rounds of a double barrel shotgun are fired
simultaneously and not after each other, so recoil is not an issue here.

Have you actually ever fired a real gun yourself before?

I'm suprised you make no mention of FOT, it has a double barrelled shotgun with which both barrells can be fired together, and a lot of other inappropriate guns you'd be in hog heaven with that game.

Whoa, didn´t know that. Since Shotguns already dissapointed
me in FO 1+2 I refused using those in FOT.
Thanks for the Tip! Makes the game worth playing one more time.

Whether or not accuracy is an issue, nevertheless the added recoil should carry other penalties besides a longer reload. Maybe affect your sequence (does sequence have effects in the middle of battle? I thought it did.) so that you might not get your next turn as usual...

Don't knockbacks affect your sequence? Usually after getting the knockdown and slide animation your following turns are further down the sequence.

Sounds about right. Though, does sequence affect whether you lose AP or not? Sometimes I'd get up right away after being knocked over, and I wouldn't lose any AP...

Sequence doesn't necessarily affect AP. Being knocked down can affect AP once, it depends on the critical, but doesn't have to.

It would be funny if your character would have a chance of getting knocked back from the blast if they were weak enough.

Um, I'm not sure one double barrel shotgun has ever been designed to fire both shells at once, in fact none do. It has always been you pull one trigger you fire one barrel, you pull the other trigger you fire the other barrel.

And I think you can only pull one trigger at a time. If you could fire both barrels at once the recoil would be so strong you might seriously hurt yourself, plus it eats up ammo too quickly, and your accuracy would be entirely thrown off.

Well, you can pull both triggers at the same time and recoil depends on the load you fire.

Check out this video clip of a double-rifle firing both barrels if you are still in doubt.
