GameBanshee, in honour of Planescape:Torment's upcoming 6th birthday, decided to revamp their PS:T subsite and launch two interviews with two PS:T developers we're also pretty familiar with; Chris Avellone and Dan Spitzley.

The interview is an interesting read on the details surrounding the early days of Black Isle Studio (and the naming of the studio) and the being pulled back and forth between PS:T and Fallout (2). Spitzley reveals he was responsible for the infamous Short Round treasure hunter from Broken Hills (as well as unspecified other characters).

then I got a sudden promotion to lead designer for the Planescape PC RPG (we also had a console one planned at the same time, but that got scrapped along the way)

E gads, a planescape console game!? What would that have been!

Scrapped. Period. Period. Period. Few have wandered that road and those few have returned ruined. Or actually rich but with an angry mob at their door step. (At least they should be at their door step...)

Rich? They would've made no money at all. Action-RPG != Money, and console game != money ESPECIALLY. I mean, come on, if that strategy worked think of how much money Interplay would be rolling in right now.

Yeah, by now they'd be up to Run Like Hell 3.

Um... I doubt it. Run Like Hell was not the game it was supposed to be. Someone there decided to take a horrror game and turn it into a 3rd person shooter.

Something happened along the way from the original E3 trailer to the going to the shelves.

I'd believe it, because they let the same person responsible for skullfucking the original design of Run Like Hell take Fallout and turn it into a steaming pile of shit (F:POS).
