Dubstep thread

Haha. Leaving aside the game itself, do you realize that the music is the original Syndicate theme from 1993, just a bit remixed (awesomely, I might add)?

Not that your opinion is wrong or anything ;) but adding wub wub shit to a classic OST doesn't really do it justice IMO. But I guess it's in line with the rest of the reboot.

Imagine Metallic Monks getting that kind of treatment. :puke:

After seeing that video Klaypex are one of my favourite dub step bands. Skrillex are pretty good as well (their MK Reptile theme is awesome) but they get so over exposed by the fans like Lone Wanderer says.

Still prefer brit techno like the Prodigy but a little dub step is never bad and it does seem that dub step remixes are often better. Also need to get some Nubian Mindz stuff, they sound really good.

brit techno. Prodidgy

Techno. Prodigy.

errr, did you just come up with that? Prodigy has nothing to do with techno, dawg.

As of dubstep, I like stuff like this:

That said, most american dubstep is mindless wub. And british stuff, while better, is still not as fun as some other UKG offerings.

Not quite sure how I got them mixed up with techno. Always getting the terminology wrong when tired. :V

hmm, I like dubstep. :)

For some reason I can't stand dubstep. To me it just sounds like techno without a bass drum, noisy, slow, and tiresome. Which is ironic, given that it's one of the bassiest types of electronic music, and it's as fast as hard trance in terms of BPM.

Anyway, I believe my opinion of dubstep is adequately summarized by this drawing I made a few hours ago:

Listen to Ahab if you want heavy bass.
Or Meshuggah, if you want syncopated rythms.

I've been known to enjoy some Virtual Boy from time to time, though I'm loathe to lump them in wiith Dubstep. They're all over the map, and aside from placing them in with Electronica in general I have no idea how to classify them, but there's enough wub wub wub to make them questionable.

I hate when people refer to skrillex as an "artist". I didn't know making simple beats then adding a shit ton of bass/distortion and a unnecessary drop qualifies one on the level of real musicians.

Also, this is Skrillex when he was known as Sonny Moore, I've found that a lot of his current dubstep fans didn't know about his earlier career in post-hardcore/screamo
