Dungeons and Dragons(4th edition)

If you don't want a game that veers into hack and slash at least on occasion (or absolutely want to play in an official D&D campaign world and can't improvise to save your life), D&D in all editions has never been a very good alternative. That's one of the perpetually baffling things about the endless threads on the official forum. "4E/3E/2E is roll-playing, screw you, I'm going back to 3E/2E/1E which makes every player into Kenneth Branagh!" As if those were the options.

because Dnd 3.5 is still an enjoyable system, I play rifts, shadowrun, and the white wolf system. But 3.5 even though it has it's problems, can have some great opportunites for role playing. Hell the planescape area alone is worth it.

It's not like I dislike hack and slash, hell I include a fair bit into my own campaigns, its just when the options of roleplaying, are slimmed down to almost non existance, is when there's a concern for me.

4th edition even as a hack and slash has problems.
