I would imagine that seeing Fallout 3 would curb your enthusiasm for Fallout 3.
I don't want to spam this topic, but my position towards Fallout games is this - I finished both FO1&2 exactly eleven times, for the first time in a year 1999.They are still my favourite games of all time. But ever since I played them, I wanted the next game to be 3D, first or third person - you see, to me, the good things about Fallout were setting, story, dialogues, freedom, quests and their various outcomes and consequences, et cetera. Not TB and ISO. I wanted "to be there", to see the inside of the vaults up close and personal, to wander that destroyed landscape, baseball fields, malls...
So when Bethesda announced what they are doing, I was excited, yet careful. Then news came, some of it I liked, some I did not (like the look of supermutants, exploding cars, fatman..) but I was still positive. But this website and forums always let me be careful and not too hyped and optimistic - and am glad for that, because that way I won't be that let down when it actually fails (if it does).
That said, the demo on G4TV and MS conference made me quite sad, not for the actual content (although it looks quite underwhelming and I hope he was just beefed up and you won't be able to kill someone with teddybear), but for the fact that Bethesda KNOWS what all fans want, but they just DON'T show it.
Hopefully, todays IGN presentation will give us, fans, something to look at.Because I really don't care about another FATMAN EVERY KID WANTZ THAT UNDER THE TREE demo.
