EA take on Take Two

No, it's base principle is about getting paid how much your work is worth to other people, the more important the job, the more money you make, however that breeds greed like rabbits.

Any system is flawed, Capitalism is hardly the be-all and end-all of enrichment systems, but it's a hell of a lot better than serfdom I'll give it that.

Besides, that was kind of a joke, there's always going to be unhappy people, the trick is to make as few people unhappy as possible, but as the old saying goes 'you can't please everyone.'

As far as the movie industry goes, the reason why it's becoming more and more fathomable for indie producers to get out there and do stuff, is because the big movie makers have all stagnated and are busy churning out the same crap that they know will get ratings, rather than make decent movies.

Same with games, they're formulating it, the problem with 'making' an OS is that you have to work from bloody machine code, and I dunno about you but I can't do that with my level of knowledge.

Let me simplify, if we look at the trend in OS development, where Microsoft has bought out every bit of available intelligence that could have stood against it, it's not hard to see EA taking over as the Microsoft of games.

As for transient markets, bullocks, that's what a Free Market is, don't confuse the two mentalities, even though they usually go hand in hand.

Hopefully Ubuntu can slap Microsoft around a few times and get game developers to start realizing that Linux is also a viable development platform.

I dunno, the last time I looked at using Linux, or ubunti or redhat or whatever the hell it is now I was put off by the instillation instructions, it went on for several pages and mentioned things such as kernals and such, I didn’t even bother to try and understand it. Most users want what windows offers, stick in the CD and click install, until that happens I don’t see them becoming mainstream.

Ubuntu only requires a live install CD/ DVD and it guides you through the install step by step, including all the kernel options and such as long as you don't do an advanced install.

At least my 7.04 disks and later do, I don't have anything from before Feisty so I can't say about those ones.

Everything about the Kernel and whatnot that you're talking about sounds suspiciously like either Gentoo or Slackware, which is far more user customizable, however it's also a hell of a lot more complicated.
