Enemies

I don't know what the fuck they were thinking when they added mutated mudcrabs and bears, but the robots are great and the deathclaws are spot on.

My first encounter with a deathclaw resulted in me dying almost instantly, which was an entirely unexpected... yet pleasant experience; as I realized they were modeled perfectly.

My vote is to steal a page from David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest, and include feral giant mutated babies. Childkiller ahoy!

If you look through the 'Concept Artbook' that comes with the Special Edition (i'm a junkwhore I know..) you can see some of the unimplemented creatures, eg. a variety of Floaters, a Wannamingo (which looks like a fleshy flytrap on legs), some Bloatfly Larvae, a 'Catfish Mirelurk', a two-headed centaur, something that looks like a two-headed porcupine-thing, a few traditonally styled super mutants (shock-horror.. at least the art guys knew what they were doing) and last but not least a number of unique looking Droids.. some of which more resemble the classic Sentry Bots.

So I think we can definately say that Fallout 3's rather limited number of enemies wasn't due to lack of thought or design.. but rather developer input and vito-ing.

And possibly the fact that they want to sell some of those enemies as downloadable content.

I hope your right. I want more content.

As for the Yao Guai name it's Romanized Chinese and while I still don't understand what mystical Chinese manifested beasts are doing in D.C. I've got no problem with the name.

As for Centaurs, what am I doing wrong as I've only ever found one so far.

I LOVE the Deathclaws, especially since if I can't cripple their leg(s) in time I'm torn to shreds.

I too miss iguanas and geckos, especially skinning them. That too, why can't we skin the Yao Guais? They're furry as hell and would make nice jackets :D

Would be cool to see Geckos and rats again.

Wonder what happened to rats in DC...
