Engine Questions; bringing Fallout 1 to New Vegas

First time out of the vault
I am highly curious about how everything gets handled behind the scenes in Fallout 1. The reason is that I think it might be possible to recreate the game in Fallout New Vegas from an existing installation of Fallout 1. My idea is that a special program can be written to read all the Fallout 1 game idea and convert it into something that the G.E.C.K can use. Maybe by locating all of the references and linking them to the updated content; passing in the scripts one line at a time and converting it into G.E.C.K script; taking the edge maps and building blueprints based upon all the intersections; look for duplicate content and using vanilla stuff in place of the original; swapping out the landscape textures; taking character info(races and such) and building NPCs that match the original requirements; and lastly generating LIP files from all the dialogue in the game. I don`t know all the technical details and need them filled in. Thanks for reading this.

A converter tool is extremely unlikely, because the games are nothing alike. It's easier to recreate the game from scratch (see the link of Mr.Stalin) and even that takes ages. Besides, I'm still not convinced the gameplay will transport well.

No, it could be done....actually fuck that....I don't want Fallout 1 in New Vegas. I don't think the open world design is approiate for Fallout. You'd have to do something really creative to give this port a World Map and random encounters. But other than that, the work wouldn't be that hard at all. You design a minimal world spaces and then have them populated. It wouldn't even take that long: I could imagine that it would basically be like two of Someguy's mods put together....at least as far as world space assembly. You'd have to make some assets like the goo in the Master's Vault, the Master, Floaters, maybe the original centaurs, maybe the alls of Junkown and the Cathedral. And the wagons for the Caravaners. But combined with Fallout Classic Weapons, Abdoe building settlemetns resource and a green retexture of the Advanced Combat Armor, it would mostly be assembly. There's not any need for animations either except for the two death at the end of the game. Unless you want to be ambitious and have rope climbing/descending animations.

Personally, I'd rather see a recreation of Fallout 1 on Fallout 4 rather than New Vegas. The AI and gun handling are better, there's a fatness bar do can use to to make Gizmo or really skinny characters.

Like Lexx said, it is highly unlike, the engines are too different. There is no way gamebryo can automatically use any data from the Classic Fallout game. Gamebryo is also highly cumbersome and prone to crashes, everything has to be made by hand in it, and have to be made perfectly or you will break the game, corrupt save files, mess up the framerate, etc. Lists have to be made by hand, maps have to be built by hand, navmesh can be built by the GECK but you will have to end up editing by hand or the NPCs will think they can walk on walls or get stuck because they think they can't walk on flat ground, scripts by hand, dialogue and quests by hand and so on.
Even the way critters, weapons, NPCs, skills, world interaction (in FO1 you can examine and use everything even if most things say you can't do anything with it, that is impossible in gamebryon), etc are different in both engines and there are no way to make them compatible automatically or even manually for that manner. Distance is another thing that is totally different. It is just pretty impossible.

If there was any way of making stuff like this automatically, then we would already have tools and many mods/projects available today. After all, for world building, quests, dialogue, etc, the GECK is still the best tool we have and every modder knows the GECK just plainly sucks. If it was possible there would already be a fan made software that would be better than the GECK.

You can find Fallout The Story on Facebook. They just announced that they've cancelled the mod so maybe you could take over theirs? I believe they have Vault 13, Shady Sands, Vault 15, Khans and Junk Town. That's a start.
