Ever actually want to try an Iguana-on-a-stick?

First time out of the vault
Hey guys! New user here..I've always enjoyed this website and have been a big Fallout fan since I first picked my copy of the original Fallout.

On another note, sort of unrelated, I love to cook!

I love video games and cooking so much I've decided to merge the two and am starting up a Youtube channel dedicated to creating Culinary Video Game Delights!

The first installment to my channel will be dedicated to..Wait for it...Fallout.

I will be making (as the subject of this topic is named) Iguana-on-a-stick! And yes..I will be using actual Iguana meat!

Expect it to be up in mid-October seeing as I'm in Japan at the moment and have to wait until I return to the good old USA. I will update this topic the second I start creating the video in hopes that someone might be looking forward to watching it.

Until then I would like to ask if there is any other Food items in the Fallout world in which you might be interested in seeing put together.

The only other thing I can add is a brief summary of what to expect Iguana-on-a-stick to taste like. So, according to the game, Iguana-on-a-stick consists of "Some charred meat and vegetables on a cooking stick."....So I've decided that it will of course be cooked on the grill, slightly charred with the meat and vegetables marinated in something or another..But I thought to myself, "In Fallout, What would Iguana-on-a-stick taste like?" I imagine with it
being covered in RADS it might give quite a burning sensation. So expect it to be a very spicy treat!

Hope you find this idea somewhat interesting and hope you look forward to viewing the video!

The Iguana bits taste like chicken. (However, Doc Morbid should disagree.) :)

Let's assume Dr. Morbid and Iguana Bob have nothing to do with the Kebabs I'm going to create...Yes..You just go ahead and assume that.

I would imagine, from what I know of Mexican preparation of Green Iguana, that it would be best to simmer the iguana in water or stock for 20-30 minutes, till tender and cooked (perhaps this step should be done on the bone), before you actually roast or grill it.

Then I would allow it to cool completely, and cover it with whatever marinade I'm intending to use. I think you're right about it being spicy, so there must be some chile there, fresh garlic and lime juice/vinegar, maybe some cumin and black pepper. Then put it on a stick with your vegetables, and grill over high heat.

I'm jealous

Here in North Carolina we have the Sea Food Festival in October were one of the thing they usually sever is alligator meat which is also served on a stick, wonder if they taste similar.

I'll pass thanks.

I haven't on my own wondered what it would taste like, but being asked by the title of this thread I wouldn't be opposed to trying it.

Sure would be interesting to try, but I doubt it would taste good, especially for a guy as picky when it comes to food like me.

Plus making it here in cold Finland where the closest thing to a real gecko is in Fallout 2 would be a wee bit challenging, don't you think? Sure would like to taste, still.

Gotta be something Dogmeat would enjoy, too, so none too spicy. ;-)

wonder how they prepare this treat in the post-apocalyptic, because resources like ordinary cooking supplies might be hard to find

Probably make due. I am sure salt is pretty easy to get. And yes, I think I will try an Iguana on a stick. After all, we live in dark dark times.

If given the chance, I'd probably try iguana. But I'm not going to go out my way to get some.

Actually, using iguana in dishes isn't too uncommon in Central America, especially places that are over populated with them. Chicken of the tree.

Well, let's see...

There's the dry meat, if you want to try your hand at making jerky. All the neighborhood dogs will love you. Or, for minimal effort, you could "make" Nuka-Cola or the TV dinner ("small dusty box of some sort," as it is called in the game) by just buying cola and a frozen dinner and leaving them in the pantry for a century or so.

It's good to make it now so it's easier after a possible nuclear war :D

You should try the Nuka-Cola and swap labels with a normal Coke bottle. Someone wrote a recipe:

1/3rds Cream Soda
1/3rds Coca-Cola
1/3rds Mountain Dew (or any other caffeinated drink you like)

Haven't tried. You could also make the Fallout Fruit :)
