F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R. was a disappointment after a while. The graphics sucked on all but the strongest configurations and the action becomes repetitive fast. The story was okay for a FPS but that doesn't mean it was particularly good. Half Life 2 is still superior and has much more to offer in all respects.
 
I got bored after 30 mins, the same repetitive action the whole game, kinda like Quake 4 with better action. The story was there but I didn't get it or didn't care to get it. It's ok, can be fun sometimes.

The story evolves,so you don't really get much of it 'til towards the end...(which made me wondering about a thing happening,maybe I misunderstood something)
Other than that I agree with you about the combat being a bit too repetitive and there are some other things I didn't like about it,I wanted more fear in it than Doomlike forced combat...
Overall I liked it,but it's not a top ten game for me....I'll prob. not play it again,but I don't feel making it all the way through was a pure waste of time.
 
definately better than doom.

and dont get me going on doom. i cant belive they put out that trash.

Fear was good, and definately brought some different and cool things to FPSes like an actually involved story proving that if they want they can even give FPSes stories. definately something im glad i have, but not something i will play a lot as FPSes arent my main game.

Been there,done that...HL has a story,Chaser has a very good evolving story -with a nice twist,so that's not specific to F.E.A.R....
 
Bought it, gave up on it after the 3rd day now my dad plays it. I was expecting it to have a more supernatural feel. Running around offices just doesn’t do it for me. Also the multiplayer was lame and the maps are nothing impressive except for the one with the truck parked in the yard its reminded me of the load screen from Fallout tactics. I still prefer quake 3 arena to any new FPS.
 
Any point getting the expansion now or wait until its price has droped more?
Also does it tie up all lose ends or leave with another clifhanger?
 
Wait for a bit, or dig around the net you should find it cheaper than the store price most of the time.
 
I actually gave this a 2nd chance. After throwing my expectation out the window its really not bad at all. Anyone want to get an online deathmatch going?
 
The people who made FEAR are pretty talented. I thought Condemned was "one" of the best story driven FPS's I've ever played and was 100 times better then FEAR. I highly recommend it. Condemned: Criminal Origins KICKS ASS!
