F3M - A Total Conversion Mod To The Original Fallout

Dakcenturi

First time out of the vault
Well, now that we've gotten the site in workable order and we are getting things rolling I would like to officially announce our project to recreate the Original Fallout game in the Fallout 3 Engine.

It's an ambitious project to say the least and we have no misconceptions that it will take a great deal of work and help from the community which is why we hope that you will all become involved and provide your thoughts and suggestions about the project.

There seems to be a lot of interest out there for this type of project and we only hope that we can put together something great that the community can enjoy!

Please stop by our site. www.fallout3mod.com

There are many ways for you to keep up to date with new information as it becomes available, including RSS, email subscription, and our forums. If you have modding talents or are interested in helping out please send us a note to apps@fallout3mod.com.

Just a bump here and some information:

We need more help and support, our staff is very small currently but very dedicated.

Dakcenturi is kind of the jack of all trades dealing with scripts and maps as well as managing the website and forums.

mikill is a supreme mapper and will be helping put his skills to the test in this taxing mod.

Stavaas is a skilled modeler and will be helping to build models for entities and npcs.

Eternal is a nobody who is helping to handle the dialog transfer when he isn't busy smashing his face into the keyboard and drooling.

we have an RSS feed and forums, if you have any opinions/questions/ideas or feel you could help us out we'd really appreciate it :)

We are still looking for help, especially in the areas of mapping, modeling and animation so if you have the know how and want to help out stop by our site to volunteer!

Not a single person is in the chatroom other than me right now. I wanted to talk to someone personally and see if I could get a position for doing something.

I am going to try the forums.

Another FYI:

http://forum.fookunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Southern California - Rise of a new Master

-Adding in all of the F1, F2, and (maybe) the "Van Buren" locations into the GTS, complete with NPCs with unique dialogue and voice overs.
-Original music (I currently know a local band that might be willing to do this and even make a cameo appearance in the mod! Heh)
-Possibly a new lore friendly questline (Rise of a New Master, or RoaNM)
-Possibly implementing the "Van Buren" storyline using the design docs for it that can be found online, mainly to tip our collective hats to Black Isle and Interplay, because without them, none of this would have happened.
-Plus quite a bit more stuff the project lead and myself have been throwing around, but I don't know what is a definite yet, so I will update as needed.

You guys should work together on the mapping.

Thanks Dude, I will contact them.

Prosper you can PM me on the forums and I will respond within the same day, or email Dakcenturi if you are interested in helping. The IRC chatroom is usually empty, I noticed that too before I volunteered. Its because there is currently only 4 staff members and a handful of people at all whom visit the forums.

Any news on collaboration? I have another FYI:

I sent them an email as well as posting on their forums days ago and have no received any response yet unfortunatly.

All Fallout fans,

This project is still alive and kicking. We went through some slow patches and site difficulties but we are still alive and kicking. If you haven't seen we've been doing some good work and increased our web presence a bit. Now you can keep track of our progress via multiple avenues including:

You Tube
Twitter
Facebook
ModDB

We're well on our way to getting Shady Sands completed but we still need a lot of assistance. Our priority needs are highlighted, but if you fall under any of the other positions, don't hesitate to apply!

* Programmers(We really need help in this department!!!)
* Mappers
* Texture Artists
* 2D Artists
* Modelers
* Animators
* Web Designer/Developer
* UI

* Project Management

In addition, we're looking to fill some lead positions so if you fall into any of the above categories and have the time, dedication and desire to be an area lead then let us know!

My application must of been declined. I swear I applied twice, but never got a response.

I can do pretty much anything. But I am not specialized in any way except for maybe scripting. I am not sure if you all could keep up with me at any job I took...

Do you have any written plans or maybe a rule book for what content you want?

It might just be best for me to do my own work outside of a team and contribute whenever I have something worthy..

We're still documenting all our plans. Apologies if no one got back to you. It may have been when we were having site difficulties and just got lost in the mix.

We definitely need help in the scripting department though so if you can help there just shot me a PM on our forums and we can discuss further.

Well as I’m sure many have been aware there haven’t been too much in the ways of updates.

Sadly there were some internal issues, staff not co-operating and work not getting completed. As such the project was tabled until a later date. Well we’ve finally decided upon that later date.

Currently the project is officially ON HOLD until at least a month after the US release of Fallout: New Vegas. The reasons for this are two fold. In the interim it will give us an opportunity to clean up the site/forums some and hopefully bring you a better webspace moving forward. In addition to that we are going to finalize an official design doc in hopes to provide a little more clarification around our intent. The second reason is we will very likely want to use some of the resources included in New Vegas. As such we want to wait and see what will and will not be available for us to utilize.

We are still looking for volunteers and are in the process of re-organizing our staff. So if you are interested please still let us know.

In either case, thanks for everyone’s support to this point. The project is NOT canceled, but is on hold until a month or so after the US release of Fallout: New Vegas.
