I for one like the flat colours, it suits the style.
With all their Wacom tablets and Photoshop(-alike) software, some "artists" have started to think that you need to add all the gizmos and effects before something can be a nice piece of art. Don't let them fool you into thinking the same thing. In fact, my advice would be to toss your Wacom tablet in the poo poo toilet, flush it out of your life and start to experience the joy of holding a real pencil, a real pen, a real brush with real paint and real ink.
