Fallen Earth Post Apaccolyptic MMO

Gintoh

First time out of the vault
I'm new here (this is my first post here) cause I like Fallout and PA stuff in General and I just wanted to show you 1 game im looking forward to. It's called Fallen Earth, it's an mmo set in the Grand Canyon area 100 years after a plague/nuclear apacolypse. Take a look at these 4 videos.

The graphics will get better I think because it's only in beta now.

Well, this certainly is an interesting MMO, I can tell you that. Needs some work, but I recommend trying to apply to the beta-testing team, as did I.

Especially since it wll have a monthly fee after being released to the public.

uggs, we've done this in two or three other posts... this post smells of advertisement.

Just because it's my first post that happens to be a differant game doesn't mean i'm advertising.

Humm I think you misunderstood me. I'm stating that this has been discussed in several other threads.

Generally, in a web forum environment, its prudent to search for other topics pertaining to the one you are about to post. This way, you are not rehashing and or stepping on someone elses toes that all ready posted the same thing.

Dude, i just tried searching for an old fallen earth thread and its like finding a needle in a hay stack. The search engine sucks, and not to many people have the time to sift through pages of search results.

This game looks pretty cool. I hope it comes out soon.

I started playing the beta today and I think it's pretty awesome. Definitely has a Fallout feel to it.

Despite the fact that we're not supposed to talk about it (first rule and all) I too have been in beta, and for some time.

I found it playable but, did not get hooked. Again, I wonder if my tastes are drying up? Is it me, or do these games lack something that ties me in?

In a recent thread I mentioned that I seem to have a tough time finding any new game interesting as of late. Maybe video games are much like music. With music, we are capable of liking almost anything but once we hit late teens our auditory system finishes developing, we are basically stuck with the genres we had enjoyed up until that point with very little ability to enjoy anything new.

Maybe the above is the same for video games eh? Or maybe most games as of late (including Fallen Earth) just fall short of capturing my interests. Either way, I've learned to never judge a game until I've played for a couple months, if I lose interest after that point, its not worth my time.

It can be a bit cumbersome; however, if you use the search function properly you can narrow things down quite a bit. For instance, I saw a post apocalyptic short film and wanted to share. Certain someone here must have discussed it all ready I did not want to repost it and get it tossed in the vats or worse.

I found a short film thread on the 2nd page of results that had discussed the film I watched. Badda-boom-badda-done.

After spending some time with it, I too, lost interest with it. And I'm also bored pretty easily by about 80% of new games that I play. Most of them offer nothing new to me and I am simply tired of the same old schemes.

If I can predict what will happen during the game in most cases, then where's the fun in that?

I'm with you, but maybe its not necessarily the overall predictability that detours us? I find many games predictable but still entertaining.

I think Fallen Earth's biggest failure for me was its lack of life. There was too much that did not smell right. Some of the NPC factions story lines and lore made no sense. Many of the quests lacked the heart and potentially morally objectionable real life decisions that one would be faced with in a post apocalyptic world.

Complex, interesting mature situations such as surviving a post apocalyptic world are not made interesting by simplifying/shielding them for the young and or ignorant.
With the above said, I should say I believe many of the features of FE intriguing and entertaining.

1.) I found for the first time in a MMO that I enjoyed crafting and scavenging for goods. I felt the pay-off was well worth time invested.

2.) I also enjoyed the mount system as well as much of the music and ambiance of the world.

Things may yet change before release FE I don't see those things approaching a level that interests me to any great extent.

These new games hold no appeal whatsoever!

The problem with Fallen Earth is that it lacks content overall. It's generally just lifeless. In a bad way too.

However, the game is still young, so I'll give it more time. It's still fun.

For the love of god learn to spell.

I got this game yesterday, and I must say I am quite pleased with it. I have not played an MMO since ultima online, and I did not like that game at all. This game however has drawn me in a bit because of the crafting that is available to the player. I can play totally lone wolf and be completely self sufficient. The combat is a little clunky, but I swear if hit something in the head it does more damage than if i hit it in the leg. FWIW it is a fairly fun PA game.

QFT!

I stick with some old games actually, and some of them that have poor reviews are actually more fun compared to some new games with high scores from various gaming websites. DMMM: Elements is a good example! I have had so much fun with it so far!

I played a few days from the beta test. Then I wanted to spend one more month with it but well.. my graphic card is broken now and I can't.

It has some pretty nice ideas but I can very much understand if someone gets bored with Fallen Earth pretty fast. Especially if you run around alone, you are just farming junk items and craft stuff all day long. All quests I've found so far have been "go there, kill x!" or "go there, bring me y in amount of z!" so this part of the game is not really epic.

Fallen Earth

So I started poking around steam's list of RPG's and I ran across this mmo/fps/rpg thingy. Doesn't look like they're copying any of the fallout games any more than any other generic post apocalyptic game.

Looks ok, scores a heafty 68/100.

For those of us with the velvet rose, the game offers a military discount and a high-speed t-shirt.

Right now I'm getting the ten day trial set up and I'll have a look around see if it's worth 14 bucks a month. (I think it may also have an offline play)

Anyway, surprised there hasn't been a topic for this before. Looks like it's been out for a bit. I'll be back to comment on it after I diddle around with the trial.

Until I get back have a listen to the lead game designer and assistant project manager talk about their game and show it off a bit.
