Fallen Earth Post Apaccolyptic MMO

Well I see this thread is really old so I'd like to bump it up and update a few key points here. I'm a huge avid Fallout MMO fanatic so I'm patiently waiting in hopes to one day be able to jump into a real Fallout MMO. With that said, Fallen Earth is a GREAT substitute while waiting for "Fallout Online".

What got me to play the game and subscribe?
  • Post Apocalyptic setting (Because I am a Fallout-fanatic waiting for Fallout Online)

    Factions

AWSOME game trailer video (The one smack talking Farries, Gobblins and Magic Wands)

Clans/guilds with indepth controls/features (An absolute must for me in anything online)

    PVP (Non-instanced, I HATE INSTANCES)

    PVE

    Loot

    Crafting

    Player-Economy

    Vehicles

LARGE terrain (If the word-space was small I wouldn't even consider playing)

Lots of content/quests (Never a dull day in-game)

Semi-large community (Always see new faces EVERY day in-game)

Active forums (Love the fact that there's no bullcrap on the forums, "What are you doing right now?" "What are you listening to?" "What is your favorite class in school?")

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER SEEN (GM's Included)

30 day FREE trial (Never seen any other MMO with a full 30 days that also carried over to subscription time after purchase)

In-game web browser (Hate having to Atl+Tab to surf the net while waiting for something in-game)

    Graphics (I can't stand WoW's cartoony graphics)

    Emersion (hooked from day 1)
My one and only complaint about this game is that it's not advertised enough.

Overall I really can't believe this game has been out for a year now and there isn't more spotlight for it within the Fallout community or just MMO communities in general. It's a excellent game and I'm just shocked as hell I never heard of it before this month. Apparently it's in most major stores for sale as well as Steam (which they got some kind of discount going on now for like $10.00 I think).

For anyone intersted you can get a 100% free 30 day trial via their website, http://www.fallenearth.com/ https://www.fallenearth.com/trial The BEST part about the trial they offer is it requires ABSOLUTELY NO finanial information to play. You provide a email address, name and that's pretty much up aside from user name and password. You can download the game off their site and jump right into the full MMO almost instantly (after updates are downloaded). Additionally, once you have the trial and you want to upgrade to a full account and purchase the game, you don't have to redownload anything, you just enter a cd key on your account page and that's it. I actually purchased the game 2 days into my 30 day trial, best part was that my 30 day trial days didn't go away, they carried over onto my account... so I paid $19.99 off of their website for the game which included 1 month's game time, with my trial time my next payment wasn't due for 60 days. Pretty amazing offer I'd say.

Anyway, check the game out, it's WELL worth the time if you are a avid Fallout fan like myself. Here's a few screenshots from my first days in the game earlier this month (they held a little xmas event).

Also a few good videos on it

Carlin on promotion tour i see :)

I gave FE a spin a few months ago and was surprised and very impressed. It comes closest to what i think makes a mmorpg worth playing. Sadly my graphics card died a horrible heat-death and i could not finish my free trial-month. I will return again but am too busy at the moment.

I was mostly exploring and getting the hang of the mechanics, so i did not take a good look at the community. From what i saw, there is very little smacktalk, leetspeak and juvenile e-peen comparsion going on in this game. What i missed is the lack of roleplaying, because thats what would keep me in a game for longer periods. Again, this was probably (hopefully) my fault for not looking further for it.

Good things are (among others):
Pretty good missions (for a mmorpg)
Excellent crafting and scavenging system (only rival to it was the old SW-crafting)
Really nice PA-worlddesign
Good factions with different relations

There are a few problems too. Ingame the most pressing and easy to solve problem is item degradation. Its really needed if you want to have a functioning economy and a need for specialized traders. And perhaps a bit more consequences after dying.

Out of Game its the subscription and payment methods. You need a credit card. It says that you can use paypal and such services too. But for some countries PP et al don't allow recurring payments and you cant subscribe with single payments (like EVE). Installation and download of the client can be a hassle too. But the staff is very helpful and, as was mentioned already, the support is excellent. A rare thing in mmorpgs.

All in all i would give it a try if you are a fan of pa settings.

Fallen Earth is the first MMO I would have paid for, but PayPal didn't worked for them when I really wanted to play it, so I couldn't play it. By now, I am a little bit out of the hype and don't feel the need nor have the time to give it a try again.

It depends from wich country you try to pay. Paypal restricts the payment services for some countrys, like switzerland and i think germany. They wont allow recurring payments from accounts that aren't backed by a cc. I don't know why, since if someone has a cc he doesn't need paypal.

There is a monster thread about this on the FE forums. Its not actually a problem of FE but of paypal. They could solve it though, if they made single payments available for the game. So you could pay for 3 months and after that have to pay again instead of an automatic extension of the subscription. That way paypal would work.

Hope they offer something like that in the future.

Exactly. FE wanted a real subscription, which didn't worked for me with paypal in germany. I cannot understand, why they didn't added other payment methods beside subscription... So I've bought their game on release and couldn't play it once since then. I was hoping something will change in sooner future, but by now... not in the mood anymore.

Maybe for the better, as it saved me a lot more money (and time?).

Well, yes. That's the information we got some days after the official release.

But just for FE, I will not create myself a ClickAndBuy account.

Just found out there's a smart phone app for FE. Let's you manage all your ingame items and also chat. Pretty cool little app, now if only you could kill things from it, lol.

heyyy this looks neat, thanks for reviving this thread. I never really looked close at this game, but I might give this a try. 30 day free trial!?!?!?! heh awesome.
