Fallout 1 encounter rate

First time out of the vault
guys Ihave trouble with encounter rate

I used to play this game 15 years ago my comp was slow (pentium 133) I had many encounters and game was harder that s why map movement speed was very slow and so many encounters = many fun.

Now I install this great game again but map movement speed sucks I went to vault 15 from vault 13 in seconds without any encounters, this is no fun, i go as if i travel with plane ?

How do i fix this ?

I know that killap solved this problem for Fallout 2, but I'm not sure whether it has been solved for FO1 yet.

You could always try to slow your computer down with certain software out there (cpukiller and moslo come to mind).

there is for sure... i get almost no encounters i m moving tı fast... yes like alec said when I deacrease cpu speed with utility encounter rate increases but at the cost of incredible slow game. it s still different than the older times

kansar02 There isn't such a problem in FO1. In fact, encounter rate fix for FO2 was made using FO1 algorithms.

Yes, there is. I had it as well during my last playthrough, which was less than two months ago, and I'm not even playing on a new pc, it's an 9-10 year old Pentium 4. Travel speed is less quick as is the case in FO2 (where it is just light speed), but the random encounter rate is similar and so it's practically nil. I too remember my older playthroughs having much more random encounters (which adds a lot to the gameplay).

I used moslo once, but as kansar02 points out, this software slows down everything else in the game as well (combat, running, followers, ...). It's not very enjoyable.

I thought the problem was being addressed in some FO1 restoration patch (similar to FO2's restoration patch), but I can't immediately find any mention of it.

No, it never was. As I said, FO2 fix is based on FO1 algorithms, so there never was a problem. Don't know, what happened. :)

A while back, I felt the same about Fallout 1's encounter. But I'll guess that's more because after a while, you got used to the Fallout 2 ones.

Sadly, I can't remember anymore how much encounters I got, when I first played the game. But it can't be that much as well.

I can remember my speed walking from for example vault 13 to vault 15 and from BOS to Glow.... There is huge difference... I had to load tens of times because of sniper rifled combat armor guy encounters which have slain me all the time. And I got most of my xp from encounters.

By the way... I used cpu slowers and my encounter rate increased and movement speed decreased even when not to much.

I like the encounter rate and movement rate in fonline 2238... it is very slow as it should be... for my taste it could be even slower than that. So you have more feeling about neverending and painful wasteland travels.

Now I travel from v 13 to v 15 with godspeed.... I almost never had encounters.. I had no encounters from shady sands to hub and vice versa.

Could killap or an experienced modder make a very little mod to fix just this ?
