Fallout 1 Weapons and Drugs

Er, yeah, they really do...........though barrel lentgh, rifling, and muzzle flash also has an effect.....but doesnt really matter, was simply a thought in reponse to cchanging the hunting rifle to be similar in damage to the .223 pistol
 
Guns may work that way, but the game doesn't. The game rewards your hard work and progress by giving you new guns, not new ammo types. If you really want to do this, you should at least make sure the guns that use the same ammo are very different in use, for example give the 10mm SMG a decent burst size but shitty range and accuracy, and the 10mm pistol much better range and accuracy.
 
personally, i never liked how the SMG was basically the pistol with a bigger ammo clip and burst capabilities.

or how burst weapons can only be fired at the equivalent of full-auto.
 
Aye, full auto's only good if you're fighting in an elevator. You could change, say, the Assault Rifle's burst option to only fire 3 shots and balance the AP a little more, problem is that would make the overkill animations look positively daft.

OR, you could give it one burst option that fires 3 bullets and another that fires 9, but then there's the problem of having no single shot possibility.

But here we are again with the realism versus fun debate, and I should mention that I for one do love being a cowboy and bursting like crazy. It's up to what people want to have in their game, really.
 
assuming you downloaded my mod, you probably noticed how i dropped the single-fire AP cost to 4 for the Assault Rifle and SMG.

i figured that'd do the job.
 
I have to admit, I haven't done that. Somehow Fallout 1 never interested me as much as the sequel, and besides I can't get it to run on my machine. Lowering the single shot AP for the SMG sounds like a good idea, but for the Assault Rifle... I dunno, why would it be easier to fire than a Hunting Rifle?
 
the theory i had in mind for the lowered AP cost was that with an automatic weapon, you'd be firing small controlled bursts.

like the 3 round burst mode on modern firearms.

and, from a gameplay POV, it helps make the weapon worth using considering it's not especially easy to find.
 
i got an idea to make Unarmed-class weapons different from melee weapons.

i'll admit it's pretty strange but...what if we made them penetrate armor?

i'd be like in Fallout 2 with the special techniques.
