Fallout 2 and multiple mods in minimum hardware space.

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
While it takes quite a lot space to have many unrelated and uncomputable mods to be in different installations in the computer(winXP), here is a little help to release the space back.
1) Make an installation folder like D:\Games\fallout2 (but don't to Fallout 2 cause the program sometimes ignores the empty letters), where you put the critter.dat, master.dat, fallout2.___ (changed to .exe) and the data folder from the cd.
2) Make the mod folder like D:\Games\Wasteland Merc 2 , where you copy the material from the installation folder and you add the possible paths and mod files.
3) Run the fallout2.exe. (with makes a fallout2.cfg file)
4) Then run the paths and the mod exes.
5) Edit the fallout2.cfg file with the notepad.
Under the [system] header,
Change the critter_dat=critter.dat to critter_dat=D:\Games\fallout2\critter.dat ,
and do the same to the master_dat=master.dat to master_dat=D:\Games\fallout2\master.dat .
6) Then save.
7) Then all that's left to do is to try the game, after which if it went well, you can delete the critter.dat and master.dat from the mod folder, and thous save space if you have more than one mod installed.

Ps to Moderators: I am surprised that I couldn't find this in the mod forum stickys, cause you should have known this, and if you do, you should be killed for where you stand for ignoring our need to know these things. So please make this threat like this a sticky, so every one of us can use it to lessen the mod space regs. :D

I'm not sure I get it. If the mod comes with new dat files, wouldn't it be because they had been re-packed with new material, and thus the original files would not work as substitutions? Or if the mod came with pointless dat files that could be erased anyway, isn't the modder in question the person who should be killed where they stand?

Per, I know that you know this.

 Actually the moders create new material that overwrites the old one and puts them to the data folder, and as it stands the game still needs the 'original files to work as substitutions', because of this, and there are no mods that have the critter.dat or master.dat, cause that would be illegal.

And as a side note, just a few days ago, when I realised to do this, I was able to save 1.3 GB. I had 4 different Fallout 2 games, each modded more than a little.

Wow Jarno can make a thread!? One that even makes sense?! Something is very wrong...
Yes, as I said, the world is coming to an end. And by the way, this is the first thread I have ever made.
