Fallout 2 Application Error Fallout 2.exe - Win Xp

Hi guys,

Thanks for this awesome forum and ressources .

I have some troubles running F2 on my computer.

1- Game is fallout 2 patch with latest official patch
2- Installed Children patch
3- Computer is running xp pro
4- E6600 - Radeon 4850 - 2go DDR2 Twin corsair


I read the stickies, i'm not sure that what refers to " fallout 2 blackout " is the same trouble as mine.
I tried disabling my graphic card as told. It doesn't work.

I tried reinstallation the same :/


The trouble is : as soon as i leave arroyo and come on the " world map ". The system crashes as soon as i step out of the green point marking arroyo with the fallowing error :

Application error fallout 2.exe

I have a black screen first. Then I push on CTRL+ESC to get on the desk. Then i Can see the error " Application error fallout 2.exe " :/

Is that a know problem ?

It's not the blackout problem.

You can try to do a manual installation of the game and see if that helps.

After that I would recommend you to get the unofficial Fallout 2 patch from here (official patch and children are included, so no need to install them separately).

Application errors happens every now and then, a lot of times without any known reason. I've heard it happen from having a scratched cd or a bad install. For some it has helped to turn off virus scanners and other unnecessary stuff running in the background.
