In terms of damage against unarmored targets, I'm thinking Pulse Rifle.

Gaus Rifle is a pretty powerful but if I remember correctly, ammo is quite scarce until you make it to the Enclave.

Not too mention, once you are tough enough you can just use a Bozar with the plentiful .223 ammo to slaughter Enclave patrols. Money, ammo and experience in one whack.

Currently I got 2 Gaus Rifles (Vic and Cassidy) and 1 Bozar (me).
We all have powerarmors, but I use advanced version =)
Looks kinda cool running around with B-Team mod ^^ Me and my 2 bodyguards, lol.
My next target to go is Navatar (Short memory, so well
) and whippe everyone out, as I sounded the alarm then saved without releasing what I had to face to advance, hehe.
Wish there were some greater weapon for me to use, as dealing 12 dmg from time to time is not my preffered style of attacking.
