Fallout 2 Crashes

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Sometimes in combat, when I miss, the game will crash back to my desktop. Also, in those random encounters when you enter a cave, the game might lock up. Has anyone experienced these crashes? What can be done about them?

I have Windows 10 on an Intel Core 2 Quad with 2.4 Ghz, 4 GB of Ram, and Nvidia GeForce GT 630.
I have installed the game in my Program Files directory and have the latest version of the Restoration Project installed.

The only thing that stands out to me is Windows 10 but i don't know how that'd be a problem. I'm running 8.1 and i have pretty modern specs, but i have my install in C:\Games and i use the gog version of Fallout 2 with RP.

Did you customise any of the ini files that come with RP like sfall's ddraw.ini and f2 res config?

What have you tried to remedy the situation yourself? If you haven't i'd firstly suggest a new install to confirm it's not the files.

no I have not customized any of the files, except for changing the travel speed on the world map because it's so darn slow!

Wait, actually I have had all three version of Fallout 2 (and it's predecessor). First I bought the games on cd and installed them in Program Files. Then several years later I got the Steam Versions. But then later when I got a larger monitor and the steam versions stopped running, I bought the Gog versions. It is the Gog versions I have installed at the moment. However, it turns out that on all three versions of Fallout 2, I had these exact same problems I discussed above and I have no idea how to prevent them from happening.

I would much appreciate it if someone could tell me how to stop them because the random caves you encounter seem like great places to get experience!
