Fallout 2 "easter egg" item

Did you guys find the egg yourself, or with some help. And what did you think when you found it?

As for me. I never actually thought it was in fallout2. The egg got mentioned in the official stratagie book but never was I able to find it. It also said it might give you a "Special friend". I thought it was all a joke.

When I got an internet connection and with the help Per's walktrough I finally found the easter egg (still damn hard to find). my thought at that moment was: "hmmm maybe I should level up and that way the egg will hatch!!" It didn't happen... I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed... All that trouble for nothing..

I was expecting it to hatch into a little tame (easter) deathclaw growing up into an adult deathclaw as it levels up.... Or something like that.

Thats my story about the egg. So what's yours?

Well, I have not found it and I probably going to, cause I am not into looking for faqs just to see all the spoilers, thought I do cheat quite much anyhow. So I never found it, and I had the scandinavian version of the game so I don't know if it's even there.

Did you found it in the eastern, in the game, it might change the situation of it not being hatchable, ah I am just joking.

PS: I don't want to know, and I don't want the hints for the egg, I want to play the game myself and find the things on my own.

That egg pissed me off.

Getting it and thinking it would "hatch a special friend" I kept it in my inventory the whole game and thought the passage of time would do something.

When it didnt and I noticed you can "use" the egg I started obsessively using the egg on stuff. I remember going all over New Reno using it on anything I could. I tried putting it in boxes, laying it on dirty mattresses, and even trying to lay it in a burning trash barrel when I thought scrambled eggs would be the next best thing.

Still annoys me.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Yeah, it's a fun joke, it's an easter egg, a little treat for players who find it, bragging rights and something that looks kinda cool, that's all.
I figured that was all it was, having found it by accident. (I was trying to find a way to leave the cramped part, by Lloyd's door, without having to move all party members back, and came across it.)

But it's not found in that basement. You misremember!

Meh, I've never found it, and the same goes for me as with Jarno, I want to find it on my own if I ever try to again.

Is it in Reno Arms?
I can remember that I was trying to avoid doing something, or under any circumstances, I noticed the mouse highlight something up.

can you actually pick it up? or is it just something you can highlight and get a funny message? does it actually have a point or is it just an "easter egg"

does that answer your question?

Seems like you tried even more stuff with the egg then me.
I still wonder what was planned for this egg NPC. There was supposed to be a NPC from the egg that would join your party. I really would have wanted to see it in game. Sure its silly and all...but still I really like the joinable characters. Maybe this could be modded?

anyways for the location of the egg, I'm sure you will find it if you use in Pers walktrough.

Ps

I spelled Fallout wrong in the subject title..........
please don't ban me....

I had heard of the Egg from online forums and such, but never found it on my own. I found it with a walkthrough (damn annoying to find the first time, even with the walkthroughs help) I just went "heh" outloud and then threw it in my "unique items locker" in the SAD which I had converted into my own personal fortress.

I find the Easter Egg to be the most ironic thing about the development. Like many other easter eggs, it doesn't work as intended. :D

Anyone ever try using it during the easter season?
You know you want to waste a good long time resting until midnight until it hits the easter season, then using it near the eggs in the wannamingo mines.
*Really, it does work*

Sure it does... as long as you equip the ring... uhhuh...

*Quickly runs away*

Anyhoo, for the ontopicness, I read about it in Per's walkthrough I think (most likely) and I went looking for it... but I couldn't find it where it's supposed to be so I just opened the map in the editor and found it that way. After I found it in the game I picked it up and threw it in the back of my car.

i remember getting it a lloooong time ago when i had it the first time and now i can't find it.>_< if you use it from the inventory does it heal hp or something? it had to have something to do besides hatch into an NPC, i mean without a walkthrough who would carry around an easter egg just to have it?i do't remember if i tried using it though.

I remember reading in the Fallout bibles that the egg was supposed to hatch into an NPC. A chicken to be exact, but it was never implemented ( due to time constraints methinks),there wasa also a doctor from vault 15 who came with you. Both can be fond in the fallout files ( I do belive).
