First time out of the vault
The shaman from our village keeps getting in contact with me telepathically saying they need a GECK. Every time he says things are getting worse. Is the game hinting that I should get a move on, or can I take my time?

Hurry up! Or your shaman will die

*snort chuckle, can't keep a straight face*

Really, don't worry about time. Some things will just happen.

Well, the main quest may not have a time limit, but here is a time limit overall, from what I recall. In my first playthrough, I played the game a lot after destroying the Enclave and suddenly when I was in Redding, the game stopped and showed me a screen of a nuclear blast. Then, I couldn't play anymore.

Yes, the game has a 13-year hardcoded time limit.

But 13 years is so long the time limit is considered "theoretical". I've never encountered it.

The game ends at precisely 0:38:50 on March 5, 2154, when the (unsigned) int that stores the date overflows. Reaching that limit more than twice is an indication of Fallout addiction.

It is a technical gameplay question, and it should have been posted in the Gameplay forum.

Now that it has been answered, I'm locking this thread. Please keep to forum descriptions in the future.
