Fallout 2 utility Fallout 2 Mapper question

Whenever I start a new map from the menu, the mapper always asks if I want to "Erase this map?"... (top left corner of image)
What am I erasing?

Whenever I click "Yes", nothing seems to change on the map I had opened. And when I click "No", the exact same thing happens...

You are erasing the currently empty map.

I'm not sure I understand, do you mean it clears the map screen the same as the "Clear Map Level" option?
If so, why does clicking "No" not stop it from clearing? bug?

No idea. Pretty sure nobody ever cared about this, because everything else works. :>
