Fallout 2 - Not Getting an Option to Discuss Vic with Metzger

I recently started playing Fallout 2 after beating Fallout 1 a while ago, and I've got to the Den, after asking about Vic in Klamath, and I went to talk to Metzger, and there was no option to discuss Vic. I've tried speaking to other characters, in case I missed something, but I can't ask anyone about Vic, and I'm not sure what to do now. Any help on what to do next would be appreciated.

Simple: if everything else fails, kill Metzger (and his cronies). This will free Vic. You'll be able to talk to him and even recruit him.

I wasn't aware this quest was bugged, though. Odd.

Try talking to the guard (can't say I remember which one, but there aren't that many to choose from) and seeing if he'll let you in to talk to Vic. Alternately, you can head around to the side of the room where they're holding him and talk to him through the window. See if Metzger will talk to you after you've talked to Vic.

Your best option is to take down Metzger and his gang....it's inevitable...you get lots of gear to sell after once you kill them and rake in the XP points.

If you don't feel you're strong enough to take him down then speak with Lara (she's in the metal Armour in the building next to Tubby's) you can take em down together! You can still recruit Vic once you've killed them without speaking to Metzger

wait wait wait... You can get Lara to help you kill Metzger?

I've been playing this game for 15 years and never knew that.

Hmm I was sure, but I've started to doubt myself. I seem to remember that you can have a quest with Lara which causes some kind of Gang war....could be to do with that little church instead. I just imagined Metzger being involved.

Yeah, Lara just wants to be Metzger's main "gang" so you help her defeat Tyler and his crew in the Church (and the southern house if you're playing with the RP). I don't think her interactions change once you kill Metzger, though you think she would have something to say...

I've managed to find out how. Not used using normal dialogue however when you go with Lara's gang to kill the gang guarding the church, whilst in combat go and attach the Slavers outside Metzger's building. Lara's gang will then help you in combat.
