WARNING: this post contains a lot of spoilers!
so after my f1 replay, i did one for f2 too. what can i say? it's still a fukin great game, of course! this is my most complete gameplay, it took about 2 weeks and i've completed every quest which i'm aware of and which can be done without karma loss. i also killed each and every evil party. as you can see, my player was a really kind one (2933). i'm idolized everywhere except for klamath and redding, where i'm "just" liked.
i used the latest revived installer, so it's f2+killap+hires patches.
other than that, i specialized on criticals (critical chance 31%!). my gear was adv. power armor mkII, turbo plasma rifle (for distant enemies) and an alien blaster (first bought from willy). sometimes, just for fun, i also used to use the gatling laser. i found the yk42b worse than the plasma rifle due to its shorter range.
as for random encounters, i didn't get too many: crashed whale, federation shuttle, bridge. i killed the guy on the bridge (with criticals), so i got like 10k xp, and his great robes with stats of a combat armor.
my 3 alien blasters were given to vic, cassidy and myron. cassidy was quite good, but vic... that bastard always hit some of us instead of the enemy. myron was completely useless, he always ran away so i usually left him somewhere. i also managed to save the AI into a robot in the sierra army depot. i gave him a gauss gun, and guess what, he was great at it. i also got 2 robodogs, one from ncr and one from sierra. that's a total of 6 party members, which i obviously couldn't "carry", so i always left some of them at a town. speaking of sierra, this was the first time i realized there's a ufonaut in there:
at some point (like at lvl30) i realized i should've been specialized at small guns, since the gauss rifle has a range of 50, and it seems to be better at criticals as well. additionally, you get a lot of "guns" magazines which will improve your skills, but for energy weapons you only get the cat's paw limited edition, once. but it doesn't matter now
since the character is gifted, with the power armor and the memory modules (used for surgeries), plus the sunglasses, it has great stats. yet, sometimes i had to use mentats or other drugs to be able to get certain quests or rewards, like becoming the captain in vault city.
in the military base i killed all the company of the supermutant which gave me a huge xp boost (well, at least at that level it was huge), but it required a psycho, otherwise it would be next to impossible.
in reno i got golgotha and the stables on the map, and i digged out the ghoul from the grave. i killed all 3 evil families, but only after compliting their non-evil quests. the bishops are a special family, i accepted mr. bishop's mission, but only to be able to get out after making love to both his daughter and his wife. that way i was able to save them both from turning hostile when i began to kill the family.
interestingly enough, his wife will accept your such requests even after the slaughter, but his daughter will only say "i know it was you!". thanks to my high charisma and high speech level i was also able to get laid with miria in modoc several times without getting married, and thus became "gigolo" and "sexpert" (it took like 30 times though).
in the den i could never complete becky's quests, for some reason fred would never talk to me, but whatever.
i made it into the toxic caves storage room and killed all the raiders too.
in sf i killed the hubologists. in navarro i completed the "quests". that is, i managed to "secure" the fob for the captain, got the vertibird plans by making the 2 maintenance guy to fight, then i killed the doctor to get the robodog, then saved the deathclaw by killing everyone in navarro before he got hit too much (that was *really* difficult!).
in the enclave, i also killed everyone who didn't reduce my karma. so i spared the vice president and some engineers/doctors. interestingly, they usually turn hostile when you initiate attack in the nearby, but if you left the map and return, they will talk to you again. again, i took a psycho instead of pumping myself with stimpaks.
yet, even with 90% damage resistance and an armor class of 50 it was quite nasty when i got 4 guys at once with gauss rifles (plus a blinded turret and a guy with minigun, but they were negligible), all shooting twice in a round... when i completed the slaughter, i talked to the doctor to release the fev, and then exploded the reactors on my own (that is 5000+10000 xp). if i talked to the engineer to explode the reactors, i would only get 12500 (none of these guys will talk to you after you talked to the another, fixed by killap i guess). i also got the easter egg from the "electric floor room". my speech is tagged and over 100% so i got another alien blaster. with the tool i could also disable the electric shocks completely.
my biggest shot was 511 HPs, which is inferior to my all-time shot, which was achieved with bozar to a guard in the ncr bazaar (yes, i killed him with his own weapon, but it was just for fun, i reloaded then).
the funny thing is that i was specialized with energy weapons then, too.
i had some gear in the brotherhood outpost in sf, but after the endings i moved all my important stuff to new reno to the bishop house, so there's all my party and the whore who will always be glad to get laid with me. happy ending!
