Fallout 2 resolution help

First time out of the vault
Hello, I only just recently played the first Fallout. Loved it. After completing it, I immediatly installed Fallout 2. There is one thing I don't understand. I'm using pretty much the same settings as Fallout 1, but on some maps i get black bars on the side of the screen (this never happened in Fallout 1)

Here some screenshot and the settings i'm using.

The black bars are normal because they are "map edges", some maps just have narrower areas with the width less than your game resolution, so you see the black bars on the sides. If you want to see "unfinished" areas beyond the map edges, set EDGE_CLIPPING_ON=0 in f2_res.ini.

Thanks for the answer. I tried to edit the f2_res.ini like you said, but the black bars are still there. I saw some gameplay videos where the same map was "full", like in the screenshot below

They are probably playing the game with Restoration Project installed, which has maps expanded to fit higher res better.

Oh ok, just tried and yes, it's the restoration project. Not sure if I want to play for the first time with it.

Thank you very much for the answers.
