"Fair" is being a bit charitable. The idea that Lynette would let you get her stupid drunk is a bit unlikely. For my mod I'm thinking of making it Charisma (versus the target's Intelligence) and town rep dependent whether they want to have a drink with you.

Yeah, i didnt use the technique on Lynette at the end, seemed cheesy. I did get Drunk with the scientist on Broken Hills after taking his tests tho. Then i killed the radscorpion.

OK, maybe "fair" was a stretch in that sense, but if you use the alcohol on NPC forcefully, like it is now. Making them drink (shoving a bottle down their throat), It's all good in my book, cause PC is dumb))

Though that particular NPC probably should get upset, pissed off and attack after using booze on him/her. Idea for you. :wink:
 
Well, my poor Dumb character died to a group of hubbologists. I opened agresion, and as it often happens in those situations, they got 2 turns in a row. Cue me being slaughtered by 6 volleys of plasma grenades. Cant say i didnt deserve it tho, but having come so far to San Francisco, it was a shame. I had a Bozar and an Avenger Minigun, and i was just tearing everything to shreds. I failed to take into account how low my HP total woult be, since i had just gotten to lvl 15. I wont be playing a dumb character in a few. A few notes to self:

Once you get outdoorsman to 100, the car, a motion detector, 10 ap and bonus move, you will have VERY few encounters you cant outrun, Envclave troops and starting sorrounded being the exception. Where am i aiming? At that point you can merrily go to new Reno fisrst/NCR later to gear up. If you manage to get the coordinates of the military base, even better, cause in the first tent you get the coordinates to san francisco. Of course, if you see yourself in one of those scenarios, you are screwed. Inyecto some psycho and hope you can take the heat long enough to take a super stim or 2.

For my next character, Buffy the third, i plan to do the following.

Obviously, traits are gifted ad small frame. Small frame to be mutated out for fast shot. once i get the AGI Serum (and Sniper). Skills: Speech, Steal, Outdoorsman. Since ill be a Buffy that can actually Talk ill start with some grenades. Why is that good? Because i intend to raise throwing, the awfull, awfull throwing. Why? Cause that lets you access the Toxics cave level 3 without dying, as 2 well placed grenades will kill the robot. Why Steal? Cause i intend to steal the Gauss Gun from the vertibird encounter. That means passing both a speech and a steal check. Otherwise, 4 hours lost. Also, i should really make a save outside the temple of trials and then just mod the character afterwards. Its just too boring and pointless. Anyway, yeah, this char would take 3 great risks at the begining of her career. Start with no weapon skills, making a mortal steal check, and facing that robot. Fortunately, most quests are safe before that point, since i can actually TALK trough them, and once i get a few levels, encounters wont be a problem either since outdoorsman will be high enough.


Wish me Luck with Buffy the third, hopefully she will conquer the wasteland as did Buffy the 1st, and succeed where Buffy the second failed. (playing dumb is so damn hard..., scraping for every point of exp.)
 
YAY! PULLED THE THEFT OFF!

Now i got to survive that son of a bitch robot with his infinite missiles, hopefully with all my party still alive. I chose Comprehension as my first perk and it has paid off quite a bit so far. Science is at 55, repair 42, small guns 79, and first aid around 30, all without investing a single skill point (a lot of money on science tho).

A wise choice indeed. I managed to clear toxic Caves, but lost Sulik on the process. Vic died a bit earlier against a Gang encounter, the fuckers with flamers, those guns that use 40 AP and all that mean stuff. I was in the middle of getting Cat, to have someone besides cassidy that can actually shoot stuff in my party, when fallout crashed... Checked my last save, and i was about an hour before, i was still in the slaver camp... The problem with playing hardcore is that you forget to save. Im letting it rest for today, im in no mood to do EPA AGAIN, but i really could use Cat with his nice bonus to my weapon skills, and some decent armor for Cassidy at least. Metal Mk II doesnt cut it against anything with a decent weapon. Once ive got the AGI serum, im thinking of mutating small frame out, and putting fast shot in. But that would suck until (and if) i get Sniper. Sniper with 5 luck probably sucks, and since im rolling the hubologist roulette, i might end up with either 5 or 8. Any other suggestions for the swapped Trait? Next level im getting Better RoF, and afterwards 2 levels of action boy, so im in no rush to get mutate.
 
Welp, wound up with 5 luck.
Im level 23, and just cleared Navarro for the lulz with Marcus, Cassidy, Lenny and Cat. Marcus died from going on a solo venture and getting a bad criticall before i could get to him. When the smoke cleared, there where only a few turrets and technicians left (100 HP technicians, mind you... Those fuckers are sturdier than any slaver ive met). So... I think im done with this hardcore game. If i can walk into Navarro guns blazing and only loose a single party member, i think the only thing that could get me would be an Enclave Patrol, wich, weirdly enough, is much tougher than storming Navarro, since they come in a nice combat line, all capable of firing at once, and without giving you time to buff. After Buffs, without using jet on anyone except Lenny and myself (gotta love cure for Jet being for sale in the tanker), everyone had at least 10 AP. Hell, i probably could take on the Oil Rig itself with a bit of luck. Sad thing is that im down to 3 companions, and i didnt even level while clearing Navarro, so getting science to Skynet levels prolly wouldnt be worth the trouble. So, yeah, ill count this one as a victory for buffy the third and end it here.

I need suggestions for different hardcore characters (The dumb Buffy didnt count as a Buffy, since a dumb char cant get the items from Becky), or heck, another fallout mod. How good are the other Fallout mods? I remember playing FO1 after playing FO2 RP (that was my first FO experience, gladly), and i found it to be underwhelming, but i didnt try any mods. Fallout tactics i found to be a bit too crunchy for my tastes, but its been years since...

So, im open to suggestions. Otherwise ill need to get back to non FO games.

BUFFY:

You've met Buffy before... what can you say about her... she doesn't play well
with others. She's a jack of all trades, but a master of none. She's a good
general purpose Fallout 2 character, but she has problems. Most notably, she
can't have more than one companion (which means Sulik). But on the other hand,
who needs a Mutant twenty-five meters behind you firing a chain gun at the very
guy you're going mano y mano with????

The other big problem is that she has to spend perks on Attributes, depending 
on the direction she wants to go in. If she wants to become a sniper, she needs 
Perception, Agility and Luck. If she wants to become a hardcore brawler, she 
needs Strength, Agility and Luck (and maybe Mutate as well, for Jinxed). If she 
wants to have more companions than Sulik and Grampy Bone, she needs Charisma 
(no not that Charisma!). And that's not saying anything about the Lifegiver 
levels she is forced to choose, to make up for her poor (natural) Endurance. 

She spends a lot of time wandering the Wasteland. That is her curse after all - 
to battle Evil wherever it lies. She will spend A LOT of time wandering the 
Wasteland. Did I mention that she will spend a great deal of time wandering  
through the Wasteland? But that's okay. She has already been killed (kind of), 
revived, killed (for sure), resurrected, cancelled, renewed, and cancelled 
again... but somehow, she continues...

Vasily Zaitsev. He can still be a pretty decent sniper, though, even if he is 
as dumb as a box of rocks. OK, he's not that dumb. Actually, he's not dumb at 
all. Just average. Average Xander. Who wants a Bozar.

The REAL Slayer. Or at least she thinks so. Maybe the Spirit of the Slayer is

take both Lifegiver levels at Level 12). She can hit a little harder than 
Buffy. And maybe last a little longer in battle. But she is a bit self-absorbed 
(five by five? Not so much) and she REALLY doesn't play well with others.

Some of those are pretty interesting, but only Tara had outdoorsman tagged, wich is a death sentence for the others if you are playing Hardcore. Besides, with Fast Shot and a decent Int, i dont see the need to tag Small guns, its not like you are going to be making many aimed shots anyway. But i digress, you did provide exactly what i requested, a LONG list of characters to play. Im tempted to overoptimize when playing hardcore, but some of those might indeed prove a challenge. Thing is, most of them are flexible enough to become anything (AKA, Gauss Rifles fellas), they arent really forced into any role. Id like to play a Luck 10 char at some point, it probably will get many interesting stuff i havent ever seen.
 
Thanks. :D Although Xander is designed as a Sniper and Faith, well, she has issues. And Harmony is a one joke character but I just couldn't resist. I'm bad. :oops:

Riley could definitely have had Outdoorsman, we're just limited with three picks each. Just swap out Speech and give him Outdoorsman instead, leaving him with Small Arms, Sneak and Outdoorsman.

Not so sure about Faith. Maybe Outdoorsman instead of Lockpick, which would give her Unarmed, Sneak and Outdoorsman (actually that sounds like fun). She's Jinxed but she has Luck of 9 - if you use a Perk to raise it to 10, you can cheerfully tell the Hubologists what they can do with themselves. Of course, she's pretty much a hard core brawler, and a lone wolf, to boot.





EDIT: Svankensen, the character of Rupert was designed with Magnus's Weapons Redone mod in mind. I'm still holding out hope that after the actual, REAL RP 2.2 is released, that Magnus will reapper... the Once and Future Modder...
