Fallout 2 save file unable to load

First time out of the vault
So I got the Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics bundle that was on www.gog.com a while ago. I got pretty far into the game without having any serious issues... smaller glitches are pretty common in this game, but none that really ruined the experience until this,

I'm in the Raider caves south of Vault City, after having ignored that quest earlier and went on to New Reno. So I just returned to the caves with Cassidy, and the entire game crashed a few seconds into the fight, giving me an error message.

I opened it back up and it said the save file I made right before the fight was "unable to load", and brought me back to the title screen. I had another save near then, and got back there. I was able to get a ways farther into the fight and saved on 2 different slots. I also cannot save on the corrupted save slot, and I can't load it. Then it didn't crash that time, but brought me back to the title screen all of a sudden. Both of those save slots can't load now either.

I patched the game with the unofficial v1.05 patch, and tried from an earlier working save. It crashed the whole game again, and the new save file I made there is corrupted now too. Any ideas of how I can fix this before every open save slot is unable to load?

When the game crashed, the exact error message I got was:
The instruction at 004a5e7c referenced memory at 19e41912

My system specs are:
Windows 7
1.83 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 gigs ram
Intel 945 Express integrated graphics

This is my first post here, but I'd really like to just find a solution to this and continue playing through F2. I had almost no problems playing through Fallout 1

If you're talking about Celestial's 1.05 patch, it's deprecated and it would be almost impossible for anyone here to say what's wrong with your game. You should be using killap's unofficial patch, if any.

It was happening before I patched it anyone,
has anyone else had this problem? Does the killap patch fix it?

I'd suggest deleting the corrupt saves manually, reinstall, and try a good earlier save without the patch unless you want to start anew.

Patching didn't help as there's usually a lot of incompatibility between versions.

And yes, make sure it's killaps patch or RP. I would go for the RP.
