Fallout (2) works on Vista

Windows upcoming browser, Vista.
euhm, Suffer goes brainfart?

last i checked, it's Microsoft's upcoming operating system, not Windows' upcoming browser. :)

Heh, this is weird.
Civ4's copy protection preventing playing of the game seems odd, and the fact that Half-Life 2 doesn't work, but its expansion does even more so.
And then there's the fact that the Infinity Engine games don't work (or at least, Baldur's Gate 2 doesn't).

I want to fix it, but I'm not sure if I'm permitted.

Am I permitted?

Of course you're permitted. You can always change slight brainfarts or typos in other people's newsposts, permission isn't needed for that. Especially since I called it an operating system later in the post.

i fail to see how that's "owned". our hardworking admins & newsposters are allowed to brainfart once in a while. i used to admin & newspost myself on a hardware website and believe me, we've had a lot worse brainfarts than that...

So, vista is like, win95?
well, i'm still pretty hopeful. however, they just announced all the versions they'll be publishing & it looks to me like it's just stupid. i thought xp home, xp pro, xp corp was rather 'iffy', but they're taking it another step further now...

Little early to be saying Fallout 2 works on Vista, considering Vista won't be RTM until at least December.
It's not that I doubt it works under Vista, it's just that testing a product under a Beta OS is not the same as testing it under the final version of the OS.

No. WinVista is to WinXP as WinME is to Win 98. It's essentially XP with a pretty new UI and not much else. It is like Windows XP with Windows Genuine Annoyance embedded deeply into the kernel.

Don't double post.
Also, that's just plain wrong. Vista has really been built from, almost, the ground up. There's a lot to it that's better than XP was.

The whole thing they were trying to do with vista was create an OS that didn't have all the holes and problems XP had. Go and read some previews, it's a whole new thing. It's actually looking more like they are trying to create something similar to apple's OSX not Win XP, not in the least.
