Of more interest is the preview from CrunchGear, who decided to ignore Bethesda's instructions, film their play-through and publish it.

Doesn't show much new stuff, other than that you can VATS the eye-bot and hit its zapper. But still, new footage, plus Pete Hines saying "we're not allowing filming" at the end there (surprised he didn't ask them to delete this under his eyes if this is digital footage).

Is it me or the game seems to look better on this video ( because of the colors mainly ) than on the official HD vids ?

However, I thought it was a rude thing to do, filming without the approval of Bethsoft. Wouldn't happen if they released more footage by themselves probably.

Weird thing that I noticed, it seems that when he was VATSing the eye-bot he got a 95% chance for hitting the super tiny zapper, but like 70 something percent for hitting the main body... I may be misreading the VATS interface though

I don't like sounding like a nitpicking SOB who's jumping to conclusions but; maybe Beth decided that high to-hit percentages on weapons are more fun as opposed to very low ones?

Fun and "feeling right" is a big aspect of their philosophy, so maybe?

I was standing right next this guy when they recorded around 10:15am. Hines was on the other side of the booth but one rep said "no videos please" and the guy says "We're the official PAX photo crew" or something to that effect and then he quickly interviewed the dude in front of me that was slaughtering a bunch of npcs.

You're not supposed to take pictures at a con but it's not like they have the authority to stop you. It's rude but hey that's how the press works, right?

EDIT: Regarding aiming, my accuracy against the eyebot was nowhere near that high but if you look closely at the perk screen he has 3 ranks in gun nut and takes an additional rank giving him +20 to his small arms.

Level 4 in ~30 minutes? Wow.

The demos were developers kits thus hacked.

Still, my point was that if they gonna give you 95% chance to hit the zapper, you should get 95% chance for everything else.
Nevermind though, not that big of a deal.

Perhaps the larger part that is harder to hit is more on top of the bot, while the other part is under it and more visible. They have said, if I'm not mistaken, that visibility and cover plays a large role in whether or not you'll be able to hit something or not.

wow.. I am getting old.. those kids were morons.

Every time someone got a headshot the entire crowd watching went BOOM!

During the public showing, Howards zooms out and goes "Look! Top down view! Just like Fallout HAW HAW" and everybody laughed.

I boo'ed. No one joined me.

Again, the utter contempt with which the Beth jokers treat the originals is staggering.

Howards really doesn't care. I talked to Pely (the art guy) personally after the show and several of the reps at the booth talked about the series with me and they seem to hold the series in higher regard.

I think the team working on the game really respects the series but the people who actually talk about it don't care. Maybe if the exec producer of TES wasn't assigned to this project we would have actually gotten a faithful game.

Meh, I'm headed out now. I'll lay out a boo as I pass by that booth...
