Fallout 3 GotY: IGN AU #2, Hooked Gamers #1

Fallout is runner-up to GTA IV. On Hooked Gamers, Fallout 3 is #1 overall and #4 Xbox 360. If anyone can explain to me how that makes any sense, I'd be much grateful.
While our editors regularly lose a night’s sleep playing one game or another, few games have had so many of us doing all-nighters as Fallout 3 has. Some of our team members even reported their non-gamer wives playing, and several of our staff picked up and loved the game despite not being big on the genre. The ongoing background story is absorbing, the action is frequently frenetic without being overwhelming, and the graphics are spot on for making you feel like you are actually wandering a Post-Apocalypse world. Fallout 3 has got us completely hooked and we are certain most of you as well. There was only one spot suitable for Fallout 3 and that is #1.

A possible explanation could be, ’cause it’s the only title among all platforms that got a perfect 10 overall score from their reviewer,
although it seems odd GoW2 with a 9 as overall score, beats Fallout 3 with a 10 on the xbox360 platform, go figure.

The IGN AU list is a joke... they claim that GTA IV is a huge leap forward for games. How so? It's just every other GTA with better graphics and some new physics thrown in.

FO3 is hardly the "technological masterpiece" they claim it to be, as the animations and textures look terrible most of the times, and there are no shadows in the wasteland. And the story sucks. And combat is shitty.

My GOTY is Little Big Planet. Hands down. I've spent more time with that game than any other this year, and I like it more and more every time I play.

Eyes and genitals? If Patch were a true fan of Fallout, he'd know that the first would gib the whole head, while the latter are just silly.

I would even say that it was a step back from previous GTAs overall. Funny how they choose to overlook every way in which the game was disappointing, including severe flaws in design (less variety, less reasons for exploration and obtrusive storyline in a sandbox game, seriously?), due to better shooting mechanics and visual effects. Why, if videogames keep evolving like this, they might even become movies someday!

They already have.

Have you seen the game Bully:Scholarship Edition by R*? Just check out all trailers and I'm telling ya, your thoughts will be like "Hey...is that a game or a movie?".

Max Payne was a good game which could also be a good movie. But something like this "Bully:SE" would be a better movie than a game (I still haven't played it, but I've seen a lot already).

And even now, graphics are becoming a major canon in video/computer games, which might make someone think "What about the gameplay?".

Bullshit, Fallout 3 is not a game that appeals to non-gamers and certainly not non-gamer women. "This game is so good that even our wives who hate videogames love it!"

Well, for better or for worse, it did not manage to be a good movie at all. The Max Payne movie was a joke.

The only two interesting releases this year (for PC) I can think of that did anything to "bring about a revolution in gameplay" are Sublustrum (a.k.a. Outcry, adventure/quest with puzzles based on sounds and not only visuals) and Collapse (a hybrid of many different things: STALKER-like setting DMC/MGS-like action, GoW-like weapon system, Fahrenheit-like bosses etc etc.) Anything else good I've played this year were well-executed, traditional style sequels.

EDIT: Oh that, and Turgor (a.k.a. Tension), but I haven't played that yet.

That explains it. For people who are 'not big on the genre' this game is probably a very good one because, guess what, it doesn't belong in the genre it wants to belong.

Fallout 3 is the game for everybody! Our wives! Our co-workers! That retarded kid with no fine motor skills!

Hell, even my goldfish wants to play!

FO3 IS THE BEST GAME EVER...

These "journalists" make me want to puke.

^^ If you ever feel lonely or need more love, copy that post, except for the last line, onto Bethesda forums, and you'll be their god

Well, what's her name, gamergirl did give it a "wonderful" review..., so her opinion must represent women everywhere!

Because someon fucked it up it doesn't mean it couldn't be a good movie. I haven't seen it yet though.

Lucas fucked Star Wars with his new prequals, but it doesn't mean his first Star Wars were shit too.

Maybe a wrong guy picked Max Payne?

^ Well, it could be. But, now that the fucked it up, nobody will touch it again. You know, Fallout 3 could be a good game... You get the idea.

Yep, I do get it. A bit sad when I think about how world is becoming even bigger shit than it was before :P
