Fallout 3 reviews round-up #93

I actually like fallout 3.. but if this guy thinks the strengths are the script??

If there's one thing I've learned from these review round-ups, it's that game reviewers apparently don't read books, because they appear to have no ability to judge good and bad writing.

Unlike a lot of other RPGs, you will not get to a point in Fallout where you will max everything out.

So it was my imagination that all my skills was maxed out. And what "lot other RPGs" is this guy talking about since i cant really think of any CRPG in which you can max out you skills.

I don't read books, I've read only one book and another one I haven't finished, but I am usually sceptical yo my comments about the writing, because I know I'm not much of a book reader, so I prefer to leave the comment about the writing to somoene who is more into books.

Although, I'm reading a lot of stuff on interent, including eBooks, so still I can differences between a bad writing, and a good writing. Fallout 3 is bad, Arcanum or Planescape:Torment is good.

I watch Japanese movies with japanese voice acting (and english subs), but I can't say if it's good acting or not, because I don't understand the language.

You cann't? Look for whether the emotion they are showing fits the english subs.

Oh sorry, I didn't write that one. I watch only Japanese animated movies :P

Edit: And still, I would prefer to learn the language first. Like I did with English, I've learnt it, and now I can criticize.

Harder, but still possible if you have a good ear for emotion. Wish more people followed your example and actually learned something about the subject they criticized. Although you can learn a fair bit faster if you're willing to look like a fool before you know the subject in depth.

I don't like to look like a fool for no reason. When I don't know something, I'm trying to be honest about it.

It's a fair bit funnier to ask "WTF are you guys talking about?" than stare at them like a fool.

Pitty the fool :P

Everyone looks like a wiseman until they open their mouths. 8-)

Not really.

Some people look like they have no idea what the hell is going on, but actually they know a lot.

We are all different-looking, and that makes us cool

I don't know, for the better VAs the good acting stands out pretty much whether you know the language or not.

Also, in many cases I think videogame voice acting for Japan tends to be more interesting.

I prefer to learn the language first, that's all.
