Fallout 3 turnbased?

True True.. But the odds that its gonna happen aren't that big, so what i'm saying is that; The way KOTOR was made up with a 3d Person cameraview ( wich you could rotate around if i'm not mistaken) and this SEMI TB ( ala Baldurs Gate) is quite ok.
if you fuck it up that far, then there's no reason not to make an fps.

IGNORE FUCKING FALLOUT TACTICS for art. (execpt the smoke rings for the Gauss weapons)
looking at the theorical way gauss weapons should work, they shouldn't make any smoke

If nothing else, we should at least see some breathtakingly beautiful (or perhaps I should say "astonishingly, vividly grotesque") deathclaws and radscorpions in the game.
With their horrible, ungodly annoying AI. Cliffracer-esque deathclaw antics sound like loads of fun.

Newsflash for the perception impaired: Baldur's Gate wasn't turnbased nor semi-turnbased. Bioware's CRPGs until today have always been realtime with a pause function. There's a difference. A big one at that.

Thank you, the Management.

I have quite different opinion. I'd accept tactics' graphics ( not turn based and rt combat systems of course ) I think that artwork was good enough to make game based on it. Sure it would be backwatered when compared to van buren or all these fps 3d full of gizmos games but for me even original fallouts graphics are ok ;)

And Macaco is right. There is no way there gonna be any smoke rings. Bullets are accelerated by very powerful magnetic source. If anything there might be traces of condensated air on bullet trajectory ( just these like we see after jets, though it happens on high attitude where air is less dense ).
Still I must agree that tactics smoke rings looked pretty :)

And since KOTOR was mentioned in this thread I'll join KOTOR's haters club :D It's way of handling combat was total disaster.

ehm, it's not the graphics that was bad in tictacs, it's the art, the critters, models, and so on, we don't want deathclaws with fur and horns pointing back and looking like monkeys...we don't want super mutants looking like lumps of flesh...we don't want ghouls looking like they have slime instead of skin, the point with ghoul skin is that it's half-way melted away, and then dried as hell(ghouls are hurting, hurting bad..)

and I don't agree with the smoke rings for the gauss, get them away, it's just a regular(allmost) bullet flying extremely fast....

Yeah, right, I forgot about furry deathclaws. :P
Maybe it's only me but ghouls and mutants weren't so horrible.
Anyways maybe artwork wasn't the word I wanted to use. How about visual abilities that tactic's engine gives ? Does it sounds better now.

uhm...In my opinion, the super mutants were worse than the deathclaws, the ghouls weren't *that* horrible in-game, it was a nice try, but the heads were just ...well...to laugh(or cry) of...but the super mutants were just :wall: :violent:

yeah, that sound better :ok:

If you mean some of the newer options, such as larger maps and elevation in terrain and such in Craptics, then yeah, Craptics did do some small thigns right, but most of it was Crap.

PS, Kahgan, the blue smoke rings for the gauss weapons pwn.

Fifties retro sci-fi weapons *should* have dinky features like smoke rings on gauss rifles I reckon. You can justify it by saying it's a 'magnetic resonance ring' or some such technobabble, but in the end it's too nice an effect to waste!

the first and most important point is that it wasn't in the gauss in fallout2, i.e. it's not supposed to be there, second, it didn't look fallouty, it looked like some matrix-stuff, now if they really looked like smoke, then *maybe* but then again, check point one :!:

I can't help it but smoke rings look "Eraser-ish" :D
Well, I can't say gauss weapons fit 50's mood at all no matter what visual effects they do.
But returning to my post about tactics engine, just look how much room is there for fx, maps, models. realy if someone would utilise that engine with head ... and with heart it might be interesting results.
