Fallout 3 - what studio (split from "Fallout 3 is dead)

The problem with the Fallout license is the pricetag, as we have posted Herve tried to sell it but was asking too much and got laughed at.
Really? I missed that. What was the latest asking price?

I'm sure at this point, IPLY will cave in on the price.
They need every penny they can get.
Watch the vultures swoop and pick that corpse over.

At this point, especially with POS only selling around 19,000 copies, it would be hard to guess. Maybe 50,000-100,000 copies if it was just an average game, probably less because of the bad rap from POS? It's really hard to guess, I can't find any sales figures for any Fallout games.

Although with a $10 million dollar price tag just for the license, it would have to sell 200,000 copies at $50 with all the money going to the license buyer just to break even, never mind the development costs or making a profit. If that's seriously the price Herve is asking he's a worse businessman than I thought before, and that's pretty bad.

True, but then again the company that bought it might as well make a FO4, 5, 6,... untill they recuperate their costs.

Exactly, you just need the engine then you can pop out atleast 2-3 titles before the engine is really old... Hell I'd buy them..

Dunno, probably over $10 millions..
Christ on a bike! They'd be hard pressed to get a tenth of that. That is just taking the piss.

No, the Caens probably still believe they are in a position of strength despite losing money hand over fist.

Sorry about the mini-pyramid...

someone will probably end up buying it for a mill or two... face it... the people who are interested and could make a good Fallout game don't have the money, the people who have the money aren't interested because they would probably f*ck it up real bad.

The problem with someone else buying the lisence for Troika or Obsidian to make a new Fallout game is that... Troika or Obsidian don't own it, so you could potentially have the same situation like u did with interplay, where people would like to make a fallout game, but they don't own the lisence and the people who own the lisence don't want to sponsor the development of a new Fallout game. I think it would be cool if either Troika or Obsidian bought the lisence, it'll either not cost much by the time interplay is all done with, OR it will be completely up for grabs if interplay goes completely bankrupts and closes down. So I think there's a good chance for a new Fallout game from a tustworthy developer, its just a matter of time now.

wow old thread revival rockstar

anyhow the only possible positive thing about a slow death of interplay could be that obsidian would be done with their current game (which hopefully will be a hit) and that they might be able to buy the license

(although i still believe troika would be the best bet for making the perfect FO3, but unfortunatly they themselves said they probably didnt have enough money to consider buying the license)

Well, we can always hope that Valve actually is telling the truth about their progress on Half-Life 2, and release it in a timely fashion. Letting Troika release Vampire: Bloodlines, and make some money. The game has been getting enough press, I think it will at least do okay in the market (assuming it's a half-decent game). If it turns out to be a good game, well, there is a chance Troika may have quite a bit of surplus money.

The current information says that Half-Life 2 is slated for this September and Vampire: Bloodlines in October. Knights of the Old Republic 2, isn't coming out until February. So there is a significant time gap.
