Fallout 3 will feature DLCs

Not surprisingly, Pete Hines more or less confirms to CVG that Fallout 3 will, indeed, feature downloadable contents, unless it doesn't sell (duh).<blockquote>"We had the same approach with Oblivion, which is if we f*** this up, nobody's going to want to download anything for it anyway. So let's focus on the first thing we're doing, get that absolutely right and then we'll have time for the other stuff", Hines added.

He continued, "Obviously you're not building content all the way up to release; at some point you stop.

"Every time you touch the game you're breaking it so at some point you do stop on the content side and just focus on polishing and bug testing and so forth. At that point it may be something our content folks start to look at."</blockquote>Link: Bethesda talks Fallout 3 DLC on CVG.

Well hey. If it was fucked up, I would absolutely download a Turn-based mod that someone im sure would create. There is bound to be a wide selection of customs to sample out at launch if Oblivion's catalouge is any indication.

I pretty much gave up posting or reading the comments but... WTF? I could've sworn they said somewhere that Fallout 3 was going to have a definite ending and be much less sandboxy than Oblivion. Plugins to add new little widgets and quests don't make much sense if they're going for a more structured RPG instead of "Oh neat, I'll install this and go slay the ravenous bugbladder beast of Traal then get back to saving the world".

Mind you, I enjoy slaying ravenous bugbladder beasts in Oblivion, I just don't see it working terribly well if they're going for a more normal style RPG.

He continued, "Obviously you're not building content all the way up to release; at some point you stop.

Funny, most of the epic games of the past they were working on content right up to the deadline pulling all-nighters to get what they wanted done, I guess Beth thinks they're better than all that eh?

Don't bother with it people! We are PC players and if we want a DLC or something (which we don't because FOE will suck and so will DLCs, most of them at least), and if they are not free as they should be (and I say "if" because they are not charging for them on PS3), we simply [censored talk on NMA] and there we go :) No need worrying with this, they are bitches for us, we are bitches for them. C:

And you can sell that extra content later as downloadable content now?

Seriously, if the core is a mess, I don't see them fixing it. All-nighters are unhealthy, even if motivated by real passion, but I would be happy to see their game delayed if it is what it takes to make it passable as an RPG.

Of course they're unhealthy, but they are also used far more often than most just to get the job done right when they're finishing up!

Ah well...

so, things are becoming clearer and clearer as to why Beth has been fussy about releasing a FO3 dev kit. obviously with such a big mod community as Fallout and the TES fans joining in, they're probably scared shitless of a potential steady stream of high quality mods that are way better than their content for which you have to pay...

Except a tree, however that's not quite the point you're trying to make.

As far as Oblivious mods are concerned, yes the fan made ones are significantly better than the pay for mods, however personally I could care less about either of them, as no matter how much work you put into the game it yielded little to nothing back save a little more game play and a woodgey sword or two...

I'm more interested to see what the FO groups would do with it myself, as from what I have seen done with FO2 seemed to have quite a bit more depth than an added tower here or a shiny object there...

Thank you Mr Hines for allowing us to pay for DLC which probably going to be a useless shitty helmet or jock strap
