Heh.. if you become *really* good you'll have the stamina of Middle-Eastern nomads that can survive extremely long periods without water. Hehe

RE: NOW you see, he he he

I was thinking that water alone should be not a normal health-regenerating ration, but rather a ration that just keeps you alive (emergency ration) at your current health.

Yeah, it won't regenerate you, but it means that you don't have to carry as much around to sip off of when travelling around the desert.

RE:

And it means that you have to waste more money on stimpacks (they will cost much more than rations. rations are heal you for the same amount for less money, but it will take longer) if you are hurt during your hostile encounters. If you are that stupid/rich, then go ahead, throw away your bottlecaps.

However... A man may be going on water, but use rations when wounded! That's cheating! Unless using water only will handicap you in some way. Like lower sequence, action points or something like that.

Well I'm thinking water should be a living requirement. What lack of water *should* do is decrease your maximum hitpoints and abilities temporarily until you can replenish your water. That way if the player thinks he can just stim his way out of drinking water, after all when you have enough money, stimpacks are cheap and practically weightless, he'll be forced to find water.

The same should go for food.

However it should be that if you can maintain a certain level of fluid consumption (within limits) you will actually attain higher stamina when dealing with water or food intake, but more with water. Also when replenishing your liquids you should not be able to take 15 gallons down the hatch to refill, naturally, your body would reject that much water because it isn't used to it, so it should take about a week to recover to your full hitpoint maximum.

When lacking oxygen, it should do the same, only decrease faster when drowning and regenerate faster when you finally do come to. It would all be an exponential curve though, because recovery would speed up as you get better, and be a lot slower when you first get out of danger.

While on the topic of survival, the player should be forced to carry warm clothes for wandering the desert. The desert can be *very* cold at night.

I think we're getting too deep into micromanagement with oxygen and clothes.

Hunting rad-scorpions

For food you could hunt animals; Rad-scorpions, geckos, brahmin, mantis, deathclaws and...um...rats.

RE: Hunting rad-scorpions

i wanted to respond to a few things since i first made this post about a freakin year ago. i didnt even think it had any responses at all.

about the stuff i said in the first post.

1. i agree with most of you that said fallout 1 was better than fallout 2. The story in fallout 1 was everything. You didnt know CRAP about the real story till you were about 1/3 through the game. and like roshombo said you got this cool feel of the enviornment. everything was dark and decayed. Thats how F3 has to be.

2. What i meant by choosing good or evil is that there should be more quests for characters that were more baddie than goodie. i dont mean you have to be a demon spawn, i just meant that you should have more questing options. Sure, the designers put in some evil quests, but most of them they didnt expect people to actually follow them. exp.. how many people actually took gizmo's quest to kill killian darkwarter?

3. The reason i referred to Diablo 2 is not that it was a great RPG, it was that the multiplayer was so user friendly. you can be in a game and play coop with your friends within about 25 seconds of when you double clicked the icon.

as for that dude who complained about cheating on D2, the explaination of that is that you were playing 'open' battlenet. When you play on normal BNet, your character is stored online. This makes it nearly impossible to cheat and its also cool cause you can play from more than one location.

4. about what roshombo said about different races. I just think it would be cool to have more diversisty in the types of characters you pick. you can seperate them by race, sex or color. You dont HAVE to be a 'vualt robot' but certainly men should have differnt stats or skills than women. Not be sexually discriminatory (i know there are SO many woman reading this post right now...hehe), but womens bodys are built differently then men. theres no getting around that. Women on the other hand, are usually smarter and can get their way with sexual favors a HELL of a lot more than men can. you get what im sayin here?

RE: Hunting rad-scorpions

as for all this food rations, and water and clothing to keep you warm at night? Whos gonna design all this crap? i mean would you rather have a kickass storyline and more death animations, or would you rather your character be able to experiance a

'critical failure - "MAX" has froze to death due to lack of clothing.'

RE: Hunting rad-scorpions

None of That!
I demand that we have more sex in the next fallout. Just kidding, though i did like the aspect. Damn Horny Nerds!
