    Hello everyone!

    I posted these drawings/paintings I drew on fonline forum but I thought it would be cool to post here also 8-)

    The manly art of pugilism....need I say more :)

    I aimed for a very gritty and dark feel in this power armor design. Just like I saw it in the original fallouts. I didnt like the "realistic" and puny power armors in fallout 3. For me power armor is freaking big, bulky and menacing...

    I really like the pugilism one. The power armor is also cool, but I think the helmet should be just a tiny bit larger (the pipes or w/e should touch the shoulder pads IIRC). Very nice nonetheless ;)

    They look nice, I like your style... Reason they get blurry inside the IMG tags is probably because they're too large for this forum.

    If you're interested in constructive criticism, here's some:

    I like the motion in Pugilism, but the guy getting punched has the waist and legs that remind me more of a woman. Also, his chest seems a bit tall (quite a big distance from the bottom of the 'breast plate' to the neck, looks like a big cleavage).

    The Power Armor looks cool as hell, but the perspective seems a bit off - try making the left shoulder pad (our right) a bit bigger?

    Those are just small things - I think overall it looks great.

    Not bad.

    Tip1: Adding white doesn't make something look illuminated, it makes it look whitened down. Something illuminated is also much more color-saturated than its shadow.

    Furthermore, using brown or blue for shades. Black just makes your shapes look dirty. Warm light -> cold shadow. Cold light -> warm shadow.

    Don't be afraid of bold colors, either.

    Keep on truckin'

    BReal:
    Yeah you are right and someone else also mentioned about the helmet size. Next time it will be a little bigger ;)

    SkuLL:
    Thanks for the critique SkuLL! It is so easy to become blind to anatomical problems when drawing for a long time... Next time I should post work in progress of a painting so any wonkiness would be easier to fix at that stage.

    The Jackal:
    I know that using pure black and pure white is not okay and that stuff about cold shadows, but now you got me confused about this: "Something illuminated is also much more color-saturated than its shadow. "

    I was under the impression that its vice versa: shadows are more saturated and highlights less saturated?

    I swear i have read it from many sources...But as I am very new to painting I really can't argue on my own :)

    I'd go with The Jackal on this one - the less light there is, the less colour your eyes perceive (night time, everything looks less colourful than daytime).

    But who knows what looks better in a painting? :shrug:

    Unless it's an extremely strong white light, shadows have less color than the lit portions of your image.

    Saturated = more color.

    Highlights != all lit areas

    Highlights are the very top at your light-value range. :)

    Okay thanks a lot for clearing that out for me.

    I also did some research work in the google and all of the sources packed your words... so I dont know where I got my misconception from... :roll:

    I can only imagine how long I would have continued this practise if you hadnt said anything...
