Fallout: Colorado

Honestly I don't mind Deathclaws kind of showing up in small numbers all over the place since they are essentially apex predators that would be able to thrive anywhere with a consistent food source.

I put them in Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado since it made a fair lick of sense. Since they’re, y’know, Giant Reptiles

Like how uhm, FNV has the Tunnelers and spore carriers. They new unique creature of Colorado
Oh. Yeah. Generally speaking with fallout settings, monotony in general but especially monotony in terms of mutants really gets on my nerves - what, are we supposed to believe that a hyper-specific mutation/engineering of Jackson's Chameleon made in southern california managed to not only spread across the entire west coast, but all the way to Massachusetts in ~150 years? And there were no unique mutants/monstrosities that also developed? It's insane from a realism perspective, but is generally reflective of laziness and just serves to make the world feel smaller - I want every wasteland to be wildly different from the last.

If it were up to me, there would be almost no Deathclaws past the Sierra Nevada, and zero past the Great Plains, and past the Sierra Nevada there would be a lot of different species in competition with Deathclaws. We're essentially seeing a crash-course jury rigged ecosystem, it should be wild and weird.

With that in mind, I wanted Dead-Heads essentially as a replacement to ghouls, which should be limited almost totally to Cheyenne Crater IMO. The underlying logic of dead heads is that I figure the main plot ought to center around super computers, considering Tactics and the inordinate amount of computer related shenanigans that Van Buren seemed to locate in Colorado.

Ok here’s a question: Dead Heads are your idea for a replacement of ghouls right? Do you have any ideas floating around for a replacement of Death claws? Cause I just might use that
