Fallout for PSP?

It's ok guys. I'll take one for the team and learn how to morph that portable Fallout dream into a reality. It may take a few years, maybe even a decade of sleepless nights and rigorous toilings but it will be worth the blood, sweat, and tears.

It's called laptop. I play Fallout whenever I got on road trips or fly.

With homebrew it shouldn't be that hard to do. I have a 1gig memory card in my DS right now. I can play Doom or Quake on it it if I want to do so (although I haven't personally done this, it has been done and made available assuming you have the wad files).

I think that if you made a hombrew fallout 2 for psp, it could be easily controlled with the analog. With only one button to activate the right click it could be enough. Common people, you can play fallout with out your keyboard!

me and Grin (another member) were talking about doing this with a windows emulator for the psp, well we bricked a psp trying it, it's all in a topic somewhere in the modding from. i'll go find it and get a link.

Maybe it would be easy to install linux on a psp. I really do not know, im just suggesting. But since i saw ipods with linux, i think that it would be easier to emulate it on a psp

Fallout doesn't run on Linux, unless you emulate Windows under Linux, so it would be pretty pointless.

Here's a link for you to unbrick the psp

Edit: Hey i just found this, this guy managed to emulate windows 95, but do not know if its true. Maybe somebody who knows more than me can check this out. We could at least play fallout 1!

Personally I'd really love a FO version on my DS, and although I have zero knowledge in programming or emulating I'd believe it'd be possible after using the homebrew ScummVM on my DS (http://www.scummvm.org).

The program emulates most of the old point and click adventures (you know monkey island and such) and so easy to use I couldn't believe it compared to how hard it can be to have those games run on my modern PC. You just put the homebrew in a folder of the SD card, the game files straight off the cd in another and the game runs just like that.

The bottom screen on the DS (which is touch sensitive) is used to point and click and the top screen shows a zoomed in version of the bottom screen. The sound is coming out nice and the games really look crisp due to the DS's small screen (compared to your regular monitor anyway).

Lately I have been enjoying Day of the tentacle and Beneath a steel sky like this and of course they bring back sweet memories.

Yeah, only ScummVM has no support for Fallout, and probably never will.

I know, I was just using it as an example of what is possible to do with emulation.

Fallout for PSP, the world has sunk to an all new low. Anyone seen SimCity4 on a PSP? It is horrid. Imagine if it is Fallout.

Anyhow, if they did manage to squeez all information required for Fallout into a PSP without sacrificing much, then it should be ok. But then again, I am not sure if I like to squint in near darkness in a crowded bus/plane to play my favorite game.

To run fallout on an iPhone, couldn't you just get the mac version of fallout and run it like that?

Wouldn't it be nice...

I believe that the Macintosh version of FO was made for Mac OS 9, and also for the PowerPC processor, which is not binary-compatible with either the x86 processors Mac are using now, or the ARM 11 running the iPhone.

uhm... have you ever played nethack, angband or some other roguelikes? well, some of them have been ported faithfully to psp, and are as fun and addictive as their computer original, even though controls are difficult to master at first...
of course, those are not the only ports from pc to psp. there are many other games that have been ported and none of them miss anything.
if you liked fallout on pc, you shouldn't have problems on a psp: instead of using a mouse to move the pointer, you'd use the control stick. the game would be the same in any case.
personally, i would be really happy to play fallout on my psp

Regarding the size of the game not fitting in a DS cartridge. Wouldn't porting the game to a DS (or any other handheld for that matter) would also require reducing the resolution and sizes of the game assets? Maps and sprites for example could have much lower resolution because they'll be viewed on a much smaller screen.
