Fallout: Forgotten One

Naissus

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Hello, this is my first stab at modding. The story of the Forgotten One is about one of the residents of Vault 13 who was tasked to find a water chip prior to the Valut Dwellers receiving the mission. On his journey, which is either north or north east of Vault 13 he gets stranded out in the waste and nearly dies. Fortunatly a caravan picks the nearly dead traveler and takes him to the town of Aurora. When he wakes up he realizes he has amnesia. This is the main story of the Forgotten One. His quest is to search for his past while he is on his quest he will have many chances to influence (through quest) the people and towns he journeys to (will talk more about that later). This is a big undertaking, especially for a newby like myself, but I am willing to take the time to bring my vision to fruition.

ps: My normal handle is Naissus, just had a problem when I was trying to join the forums with that name.

I've started on a couple of maps for Aurora, and I've just figured out how to create characters. So I'll begin making characters soon enough.

Nice. A small tip.. start small. that's the key. One thing at a time. But keep the big picture in mind. How big are you planning on going btw?

oh.. btw start out small

I am starting out small. I'm going to complete the construction of Aurora before I do anything else. Aurora is where I'm going to learn and test different things. But I'm still moving forward on my story. Its probably going to be pretty big. I have a lot of great ideas for this story, as time goes by I'll post about the story and post pics when I think Aurora is ready to be shown.

More advice: get to scripting as soon as you can. If you ignore scripting and do all the fun parts first like plotting, character design and mapping, this is what will happen:

1. You do all the fun parts.
2. You discover scripting remains.
3. Agony.
4. You post here asking someone else to script for you.
5. You are mocked and humiliated.
6. Your project goes unfinished like many before it. Like most before it.
7. At night, the ice weasels come.

Avoid this fate by tackling the hard part first so you know you can handle it and aren't potentially wasting your time doing the fluffy parts.

Ok, sounds cool.

And some more advice, try not to get too fanatic with the weapons. I played this mod and it had weapons in it that made me think less about the mod. Come to think of it, most of the weaponry in Fallout 2 was already a bit too much. Try to stick to the original Fallout weapons. But that's just my input. You ofcourse have to decide for yourself what you are going to do... and listen to Per...

Yeah, don't worry about me including a bunch of weapons and turning my character into a one man army. Part of my vision includes the scarcity of weapons and ammo.

Its one of Per's many animalistic minions that he grows/trains in his secret Northern European base.

Just looking at his pics evokes thoughts of an evil mastermind.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Ok, cool. Caus recently I bought the Mad Max trilogy and I noticed how scarse ammo is in those movies. In the first one I hardly remember any guns, except the one that old lady has. In the second one Mad Mel has a shotgun but he doesn't get ammo for it until halfway the movie. And only a little. And most people also use weapons you can use again, like a bow and arrow. Ok, and then there's the flamethrower (which looks surprisingly much like the one in Fallout when fired) but it's fed directly to a fuel depot thingy. And in the third movie they also don't use much guns.
So I'm really looking forward to your mod.

Being the resident modem guy, personally I'd prefer if you post thumbnail links rather than 300 kb pics.

Yeah I know, thats why I've been trying to learn how to script. Sorry about that per, I'll get that changed.
