As it was hinted earlier last month, GOG.com have had to cease offering the original Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics games as part of their selection - a move that can be seen as sort of a milestone for GOG, who had been providing a convenient, legit source for those since the very beginning of the service. If you had obtained Fallout previously though, such as through a purchase or during their mid-December free offering, Good Old Games says you will still be able to download the installers - although you must have had already made the code registration or made the purchase before Dec 31st, as any unredeemed free offering codes are no longer valid. Gift codes obtained outside this giveaway are, on the other hand, still good to get a copy. Here's to another tumultous year for the Fallout franchise Source: GOG.com
Interplay giving them away last month was their last big "eff you" to Bethesda then eh? First time Interplay is the good guy for as long as I can remember. Good on them.
how did that happen? I mean ... why did Interplay lost all that is Fallout to Bethesda? Didnt this all started with Bethesda buying the right to make 2 new games ... now they own the whole franchise
Btw, does anyone know what went between Interplay and Bethesda? summary please Because for years I only seen bits and pieces about the law suites and a lot of speculations, initially I assumed that Bethesda was trying to fuck Interplay, but from what I glimpsed since, it seems that failing Interplay was unable to make good on its end and was trying to leech on Bethesda success.
Still better than beth at least thier fallout won't be called "masterpees" RPG. (I know it's actually masterpiece.)
What about Steam? Still for sale there, and quite possibly under Bethesda's guidance, but it's still sold in the "Fallout Collection". Didn't Bethesda object to that collection (or at least its name)?
From Pete Hines' response on Twitter, it seems the ones on Steam should also be taken down as well: https://twitter.com/SirPF/status/411397259289317376 Don't know why they're still there though.
Btw, his post makes sense: So we might see those game return, only this time with a new red tape from beth on the wrapping.
So instead of Interplay intro we will have Bethesda? I'm with fred2, I only know bits of the whole InterplayxBethesda
