Fallout iPhone

Grin

Still Mildly Glowing
I wonder if it would be possible to port Fallout 1 & 2 to the iPhone? Theoretically it would be possible, the hardware is sufficient. Possibilities, possibilities.

Theories please.

P.S.
Tried to port F2 to the PSP once which turned into two fried PSP's and half a year of stress.

If you want hard work, try to connect with this guys http://www.pf-pda.net/index.php?lang=en
They have own engine for Windows Mobile and Fallouty demo (also running in desktop Windows).
More easy is to make x86 emulator, but iPhone doesn't have 640x480.
It will be NEW game with long development.

I don't see why Fallout wouldn't work with touch screen. The cortrol scheme would have to be something like Fallout Tactics (no constant right-clicking) and of course no keyboard shortcuts, but otherwise the controlling could be good. I'm no expert in this tuff, so I only wonder if the saving could be done as easily as on PC?

Wouldn't the blackberry support it much better, in my opinion that would by way sicker, I have pondered this many times in the Subway or Ferry, this is definitely a necessary transfer and I would probably pay 15-20 bucks for a full game!

Yeah, something with actual buttons, similar to a keyboard, seems a lot more easier than designing the whole game for touch-screen controls...

Need 1 milliion customers to convince Bethesda. :(
Or make indie port Ballout. :) It will be long development, if it will start ever.
Team needed.

Yeah an indie game similar to Fallout would probably be the best way to go, considering achem achem... I for one wouldn't care if a game that brought the same feel was under a different title as long as it was done right if you get my meaning!

^I would say the same thing but only add that FO uses ropes to climb down elevator shafts and to descend into the caves, which could promote the only question: What are you hiding, right?

I"m sticking with "No need for fallout iphone, would not work well." Touch screen controls can be dodgy as shit on games that are designed for them. Nevermind the much, much smaller screen.

Although I don't own an iphone, I love the idea of giving more people a way to experience the classics of the first two Fallout game. Perhaps it can be included as part of the collector's edition of New Vegas? It sounds like an interesting thought.

I don't know. iPhone games (at least for me) are Hit or Miss. Some are great while others are horrible.

But it is an interesting idea.

Fallout for the Android would be a best seller easily. The types of people who choose Android phones voluntarily (as in, not because there's no iPhone on their network) includes the types of people who enjoy Fallout and other old school RPG systems.

A bonus is that many Android devices also possess a trackball or D-pad or arrow keys of some sort and some even a physical keyboard that won't get in the way.

This. I don't have words for this.

Just need to have something like dosbox for all the smart phones that'll run F1/F2. Or just play it on an iPad. Still, I don't think playing on a portable device would be nearly as entertaining nor immersive as sitting in front of the PC with the lights down and no sound but the ambient music and sounds in game: it's the total immersion that really makes the game. I don't think it'd be nearly as fun playing on a smartphone while riding the bus to work.

Of course, the same principles apply to watching Mad Max/Road Warrior, Aliens, or The Quiet Earth: watching those in a quiet, dimly-lit space is much preferable to watching them in a well-lit, noisy space full of people.

Just my $0.02 though. I totally agree that more people should share the joy that is Fallout, and most of the people who have never played it are more likely to experience it on their iPhones or Andriods or Blackberries than they are to play it on a PC.

Of course it is more enjoyable to play with big screen and soundsystem, but I typically don't have those with me when I am riding the train to work.
There is already dosbox for android, but it is in its early development and runs too slowly.
What about Windows 7 mobile phones, does software work on those just like on the normal windows 7? Or is it different? I mean can you just install any old game on it and use the touchscreen as the mouse? If so, I'd buy one immediately.
