Fallout Junkie

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Okay I was reading the "Famous Last Words" and "You are a Fallout junkie if..." posts in the humor section of NMA last night. Well, there is no denying that I am a Fallout junkie... Except that there is ONLY one refference I don't get...

72. You are afraid of raccoons.
73. You understood that...

Can someone explain this one to me? I mean, I don't remember any raccoons even being mentioned in the games. So, what is being talked about here?
:? :? :?

I think there was originally a place called the Burrows near the Glow where you could find them but the idea got scrapped... Probably for the best.

Oh, okay... That makes sense... thanks...

I think I still like raccons though... lol

Temptation... TEMPTATION! *reaches for a packet of furry racoon pics*

:lalala:

actually the idea of Burrows was pretty stupid. totaly unfallautish, I might accept them to be mutated beast but after I saw that concept art in Fallout wikia (Racoon holding a spear) I kinda lol'd.

Yeah... The Burrows were always one of the harder things for me to stomach about the original design docs... they were really kind of a "there but for the grace of God" thing for me when I found out about them, and to this day I try to moderate my Fallout 2 bashing on account of the amount of FO2-style over-the-top content that *almost* made it into FO1.

I can't recall, but I *think* the raccoons at the burrows were supposed to be able to speak?

It's hard to like them when you have a mother and five pups in your house, raiding the cat food.

To me the FO2-style over-the-top content that *wasn't allowed* to make into FO1 is a good reason for FO2 bashing :) .

I can only imagine... I've only ever had to deal with them while camping. They like marshmellows and will take them from your hand when you're sitting in the dark out in the forest. (I lived in Oak Creek Canyon for a while)

F2 was better than F1 if you ask me.
In what way? We're talking about the integrity of the Fallout setting here, not about gameplay, quests, etc.
