Claw informed us of a new Fallout mod in the works, this one is for none other then the Jagged Alliance game. Here's some info:
Fallout: Raiders Menace
Features:
- Jagged Alliance 2 based game in Fallout 1/2 universe.
- Wide storyline and lots of quests.
- Different weapons types - modern, futuristic and selfmade.
- Better resolution then original JA2 (more then 640х480).
Sounds snazzy, here are some screenshots:

This isn't news, as APTYP has already posted about this half a year ago, but it still looks great nontheless.

Too bad I don't speak Russian :(

I thought I'd heard something about this before, oh well...at least it's something to look at.

I post this to news because of date of screens on official page
19.11.04 and last article , i`m close to russian JA community( actually I`m tester of "E5 Brigade" - quite realistic JA-like 3D project) but i never heard about this project before .

Some more details (from official russian site) :

They using sources of Jagged Alliance 2 (Gold) v1.12 - means modified game engine.

Last article on site [25.12.04] describes how to use graphics from Fallout Tactics in Jagged Alliance 2 !

Sounds GOOD !

So theyre basicly reusing the FOCraptics graphics in a new engine......... could work, Ive heard good things about that game.

Still wish theyd use the RPGs graphics instead.

Are you really that daft, PS? They're not using any FO graphics, they're obviously designing new ones themselves.

Not that I dislike JA2 when in fact is one of my favourite games ever, but without the RPG element just wouldn't feel like fallout to me.

I would however embrace it as a JA2 mod and have fun nonetheless, so I look forward to it.

There are definitely FOT tiles in there. I've got one screenshot up at the moment and it's used a lot of tiles from the Postwar Town set.

They must have ported them across to JA in some form or another.

Oh c'mon. You can clearly see that they made those tiles themselves. They are based on the FOT ones, that's for sure, yet a trained eye can spot the differences.

that sure makes it sound like it's using fot sprites... and it really makes sense from a amount of work perspective, since they would already have crouching and laying sprites ready... but i wouldn't be able to recognize sprites from fot, since i never had the heart to go past the 3rd or so mission in that game.

Anyway, i hope they make the game flow better than jagged alliance 2, i really liked the combat system in that game, but the game itself was so incohesive that i didn't get far into it.

Heh... I guess I read over that.
Last fifty times or so I checked they were making their own sprites 'n stuff, though. This article is fairly recent, so I guess they indeed started converting FOT graphics recently.

My bad.

Yeah, i kind of remember what Jebus is saying, still they will win some time with the Tactics tiles though, hope they will use them wisely.

There was some primitive interface for "talks" in ja2. maybe they took care about that so it's not only "kill all enemies" but some dialogues ? I wonder ... but I can't read russian so I can't check :/

And speaking about sprites ...
I went on that site and looked at first pic not shown here. It's zoom out of some town and there is vertbird (sp?) on the left, taken from fo2. And why not. If sprites and tiles look good I see no reason not to use them.

Its an easy assumption to make............ if it looks like FO:C art.......... and theyre describing how to use FO:C art in JA, and theyre making a JA mod................

Anyone care to clue Jebus in ?

it's basics. if tiles look like tactics ones and it's mentioned about tactics in the article then the only logical conclusion is that I will get the puppy on my bday. Easy as that.
