Fallout meets JA

Oh c'mon. You can clearly see that they made those tiles themselves. They are based on the FOT ones, that's for sure, yet a trained eye can spot the differences.
Besides, FOT lowest resolution is 800x600, JA2 resolution 640x480 - so they have to modify FOT tiles to use it with JA2.
And article on site describes problems with different tiles resoluton and scale.
So, i think Jebus is right.

There was some primitive interface for "talks" in ja2. maybe they took care about that so it's not only "kill all enemies" but some dialogues ? I wonder ... but I can't read russian so I can't check :/
Of course!
"- Wide storyline and lots of quests." - my translation from site.
About interface - they have ja2 sources - so they can modify game.

And speaking about sprites ...
I went on that site and looked at first pic not shown here. It's zoom out of some town and there is vertbird (sp?) on the left, taken from fo2. And why not. If sprites and tiles look good I see no reason not to use them.
I`ve spotted vertbird to.
Besides - russian "первые скриншоты тестовых карт мода" in news means just "first screenshots of test maps for mod" .

What are you talking about, Jebus already said he was wrong

Jebus said:
Heh... I guess I read over that.
Last fifty times or so I checked they were making their own sprites 'n stuff, though. This article is fairly recent, so I guess they indeed started converting FOT graphics recently.

My bad.

Allright, let's summarize:

1. I'm half right: they started converting FOT tiles recently, but had to mod them to be able to use them in the JA2 engine (although I don't know how heavily they would have to mod them, since SFI released the JA2 source code half a year ago)

2. Since those screenshots were released over a month before the article, it's fairly well possible the tiles were made before they had knowledge of the converting posibilities

3. PsychoSniper once again proves his bad personality. If one admits his error, insulting him further is a no-no; you arrogant piece of shit.

Geez he just wasn`t paying much attention, relax a bit Jebus. Let`s sacrifice some kittens instead of attacking PS what do you say?

Anyway, PsychoSniper, let's not continue this, what do you say? No hot-headed retorts. Jebus, nothing further of that nature from you as well.

There can be just many npcs to click on to get a mission and to get some goodie after completing it. There can be many npcs that will blable about storyline. But it doesn't mean it will be possible to make dialogues instead of just listening to others.
Maybe I'm too pesimistic but that interaction with npcs thing was the major flaw of ja2 to me. And unless it got fixed ( implement rear dialogues options ) then it gonna be as deep for me as morrowind with it's dialogue and quest system.

I hope the weapons fit into the Fallout Universe. The Assault Rifle in Fallout was an AK-112 which was considered "Old" at the time of the war. So I don't want to be seeing AK-47's in every warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse, whorehouse like Craptactics.

Is there going to be an english version? I'll never be able to learn Russian. :(

I get some reply to my letter to those guys:
(sorry for my narrow translation ;\ - i do my best)
"Actually we have a lot of very serious work - no one make such alteration JA2. From JA2 we will left practically only a significantly rebuild engine and some graphic resources of course, everything else ,including quests and all characters will be new. The number of characters is increased, the number of weapons and objects is expanded to thousand units. All this is necessary to draw, to describe and insert into game.

And in general, we try to make the RPG on Fallout universe and JA2 engine. We want to make the test version by the end of 2005.

Yesterday our team have discussed this news and we make decision to put some additional info on project page - there will be some new screenshots, some portraits of new characters and some information on a weapons.

For a while the information will be in Russian.

We have a lot of work - so can`t effort to make english version of project page now - but it was in plans from the start of project.

Screenshots and faces should be tonight, the weapons - little bit later, our gunmaker now just settles all weapon row with programmers so he is some busy."

And link(on russian ;( ) http://ja2.org/index.php?p=26
There is couple words about one-eyed characters - they really see with one eye only in game (means left or right view sector)- but for a longer distance and they can hear better - and it`s just example of characters features - like new parameter "Startig(or, maybe, basic?) weapons handling".
For this "GIRL" on picture it`s - Exotic weapons.
Character pararameters will be modified further.

Looks great. Theyve deffinatly made great use of some of the Craptics graphics. (the tiles in craptics were generaly some of the best things about the game, minus certain things that were out of the setting, timewise........)

Are they using FO-Craptics sprites only, or a mixture of Craptics/JA/origonal ?

Yep. I`m with all of your words.

Yes.. I`ve played JA a lot...(Not so much as Fallouts) They use original JA2 and FOT together.
Besides, they can take swiming possibilities from JA2, as well as roof climbimg. Uuu...

Wait - only one page back, you said you'd wish they used the RPG graphics. Why the sudden turn-around?

The only issue I've got is that they probably intend to use alot of the weapons used in JA 2, which means they wouldn't exactly fit the Fallout setting..

And 1000 guns ? Do they really need to add that many guns?

What turn around Jebus ? I still wish theyd use the RPGs graphics, but I also think certain elements of Craptics wernt that bad, namley SOME of the graphics, specificly some of the desert/ruined city ones.

As I understood it, it's thousands objects ... including guns. Not just thousands of guns.
Exactly!
But I have a great idea to wait for official news  .
Besides, i think FOT weapon set is good(if u pump up some useless things of course) - anyway Fallout universe is not just weapon set, so i :P meet any guns from JA2.

I remember JA2 weapon upgrade abilities. It should be interesting to see it in fallout version :)
