Fallout: New Vegas guide blog - Locations

There's a new post on Bethblog about locations in F: NV
But what kinds of locations are available to the sight-seeing Courier? Well, some personal favorites include The Devil’s Throat; a giant rock depression filled with Evolved Centaurs, radioactive barrels, and heavy Energy Weapons. There are stretches of lonely highway to trek down passing savaged caravans with Brahmin corpses stinking in the mid-day sun.

There’s a whole mountain wilderness where Super Mutants are the friendliest creatures you’ll face, and hidden pathways to find locations you previously thought inaccessible. There are mines, shacks, ravines, mountains, caves, sweeping plains, dry lakes, rocky promontories, and wild canyons where the thrill of traversing the rugged landscape changes to fear as your hunting rifle jams just before a Legendary Fire Gecko spots you. And that’s before you enter the outskirts of New Vegas itself. Finding out which locations are safe to explore and which are deathtraps filled with Deathclaws is only a glimpse of what the strategy guide offers. Expect a full, complete, and helpful tour of every nook, cranny, and secret safehouse there is to find.

Yay!! Another Vault!!!!
I think after the first Totally-Hyped-And-In-A-Hurry playthrough I'll take my time to explore many locations, that's what I did in Fallout 3 and its add-ons

70 quests? AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Fallout 3 had...? How many..? 20-30 quests? More or less?
I'm talking about the vanilla without the add ons

Evolved centaurs? No metros anymore (well, that was pretty obvious but it's still good news)? Legendary Fire Geckos? Possibly the Vipers are in? Over 70 sidequests?

...count me hyped. Of course, over 70 sidequests could also mean that Obsidian tried to bite more than they can chew again and that the game will turn out much buggier than Fallout 3.

How can the Vipers be in, if they are all dead already in Fallout 1.

Actually, they aren't dead in Fallout 1. They do not appear in the game, but characters do mention them as still being around. And they were to appear in Van Buren as well.

According to the Fallout Bible, only the ones that remained in California were eventually wiped out by the Brotherhood of Steel, but some of them managed to flee to the east.

What are "free quests"? The article says there are 90 of them.

They're probably those unmarked side quests. Fallout 3 had a bulk of those as well.
I dont count mose of those silly lidle things you could do in F3 as "full" quests though ~ like collecting the nuka cola botles or something ...

Well, going by the Pipboy and previous screenshot, seems like a sizeable chunk of FO3 texture and interface mods will be compatible with FO:NV with some minor tweaking.

guys: honestly, whether the game ends up brilliant or complete shit, i haven't been this stoked about a game since i nabbed the last copy of Fallout 2 off the shelves of the Grand Avenue mall.

It's been forever since I went to that place last.

Ever since they fancied up Bayshore, going downtown has lost some of it's appeal.

Also, I get to be afraid of radiation again!

Now I remember. But still, they are more called "Hounds of Hecate" than Vipers.

Now I wonder if Hecate will appear in New Vegas as well.

Beside this: The landscape screen in the newspost looks pretty nice.
