PC Gamer Magazine, in their latest edition, has included a feature on "The 50 Best Games of All Time." Fallout ranked at number ten, a fall from position four from PC Gamer's last list. The blurb recounts the atmosphere of Fallout, and makes mention of Fallout 3.

There is a thread on the PC Gamer forums about this list, the general reaction seems rather negative.

Thanks Edge386, for both the news and the image.

What did they think Diablo deserved the #10 spot? lol ass holes. I think #10 is satisfactory. You could never ask for better than top ten in such a diverse topic. 50 best games of ALL time, thats big

Anyone know where I can read the list in its entirety? Not so much the comments, but if I could get those too it'd be nice.

Buy the magazine? I suppose you can ask around and see if anyone with a copy would be helpful enough.

All I know about the list:
1.) Half-Life
9.) Battlefield 1942
10.) Fallout
27.) Deus Ex
48.) Warcraft 3

From what little I know of the list, I have to say I disagree with it. I don't see how Warcraft 3 fits on the list at all, nor how Battlefield 1942 is at spot number nine.

My real question about the entire affair is why did Fallout drop six places in a year?

probably for the same reason it went up like 35 spots from the one before last to the last time they did that. The list seems like a bunch of crock (as is just about everything they do now as I brought up in the general gaming forum a few weeks back). As one person in that link you gave said "the list seems to be the greatest games of january." The magazine focused too much on whats big now since thats probably what the majority of their gamers are big on.

Agreements to you there lilfyffedawg. They do the same with the Oscars; the largest number of wet handkerchiefs wins.

Do you subscribe Lauren? Or did you have a member of the bourgeoisie 'volunteer' his copy for the greater good?

I cant say I agree with Warcraft beating out Dune 2 or C&C, as Westwood created the RTS genre and Warcraft is jsut another clone... Doom should still rank better than halflife 1 for the same reason. Quake 1 was far superior to Duke 3d. Diablo was fun, but is only a s imple hack and slash, bu still in the top ten somewhere maybe :?

Why did they separate games from the same series? They used to group them as one. Diablo II was just a Diablo: Bigger Larger and Uncut!

You know that´s not the worse list i`ve seen, not bad, although i can`t agree with every choice of course.

Why isn't Crusader: No Remorse on that list? It's gotta be better than "Beavis and Butthead in Virtual Stupidity "

Thanks for the list CL, hmmm... Half Life number 1? I don't think so. Doom you could make a case for, I'd disagree but I could buy the argument for it. Yeah, that list is definitely weighted towards games released in the last year or two. Plus, its weighted towards FPSers. I think it almost ignores the strategy genre, or at least the non sci-fi strategy. The only title I see Rise of Nations. Yeah, it looks like a list made by listening to the drones of fanbois.

Well, they *did* at least appreciate Civ2 and UFO:Enemy Unknown.

But having 4 FPP titles in the ltop ten is overdoing it, to say the list,.

Aw, piss on that list...

Yes, yes, that id quite right.

I cant see how a new game can go straight to the top of the list, when it hasnt proven itself over time as being an industry breakthrough or incrediably popular. As for bevis and buttbrain they are disqualified because they are a T.V. spin off :x

yeah its tough with these kind of things. Deus Ex 27.... humm that isnt fair. That game was on the top of the food chain for so long it was suposedly giving HL a run for its money.

You should know by now that any Origin game that isn't Ultima doesn't ring a bell with the MTV kids. Even then, I would have to limit it to the game they could make run on their OS without any knowledge, Ultima Online.

What about all the other clasic DOS games, like Lemmings, Moneky Island, Sam and Max.

Or the games taht started it all.... Pac-Man, Asteroids, Pong, Space Invaders. Without these there never would have been a Half Life 2 as the computer games industry woudl never have been born.

Damn... Any of you ever tried getting crusader to run on anything other than real DOS (not dos prompt). It just cant be done, funny enough it uses the same engine as Ultima Pagan.

You can use DOS Box to get it to run in windows though (MS DOS Emulator) which will also run Fallout 1 in DOS mode in Windows :) Oh and it will run in a Windows on your Desktop.
