Fallout Quest Ideas

Sander. Be a bitch and delete his post like you did with mine. Come on!
I never delete posts. Hell, posts are never deleted around here. So I have no idea what you're talking about.

Anyway. There are canibals in the game. But you acutally just waste bullets on them. They're random encounters... so it seems like some people in the wastes are REALLY despered.
That's somewhat silly. If you're going to put cannibals there you might as well do a lot more with them than just use them as random encounters.

Aside from that, a group ofCannibals is unlikely to survive in the wastes in any case, unless it's a very well-armed group who prey on the living. Which would again make them as just random encounters silly.

With delete i mean getting dipped. Vats = beeing deleted for me.

Canibals don't eat humans only. But still they use every opportunity to hunt down a homo sapiens. So it wouldn't be harder to survive. Even easier. Coz they have one additional food source. Humans.

But then why would they have turned to cannibalism?
Cannibalism is very detrimental to the survival of any group, since they will be hated by most everyone else, and will possibly be consuming themselves as well.

If, instead, they are cannibals for other reasons (cultists, for instance) then it is again a waste to have them just as random encounters.

Then that's your problem, but name it correctly next time.

Cannibalism and human sacrifice has been found in many cultures all over the world. Hell they were still eating people up until 50 or 60 years ago in Papua New Guinea. They used to think it was a source of magic. If you ate someone who was strong, you would get their strength. If you ate someone who was skilled with a weapon you would get that skill and so on.

I don't remember this very well, but I think they were getting a degenerative brain disease through their practice of cannibalism.

Anyway if you don't think cannibalism would work in the Fallout universe, perhaps you could replace the cannibals with bandits. But would they be as much fun? ;)

Right, now check out the bit where I said that cannibalism for any other reason than hunger would be interesting, and hence a waste to only use in random encounters.

I never claimed cannibals couldn't fit the Fallout world, I claimed that putting in hunger-driven cannibals just as a gimmick random encounter was silly and unrealistic.

Yes that would be better. I don't think there would be enough people in Fallout to eat. :) On the other hand Fallout 2 had a lot more people in the random encounters but they were armed to the teeth.

Sorry about that. I guess we agree then. Cannibals that eat people to steal their "magic" would make the quest far more interesting. Also if you made them intelligent and able to blend in with ordinary people, they would be almost like vampires.
