Fallout Radioactive VS Fallout Collection ?

First time out of the vault
Does anybody know the difference?

Fallout Collection is available 30 january 2004 (amazon.co.uk).

Both seem to support XP and both contain Fallout 1+2+Tactics.

I dunno what the deal is, but I can't order it anyways. There's this stupid disclaimer that says it can only be shipped to the EU and to some other European countries like Lichtenstein. I did a search on the EB website too, and they don't even have Fallout listed at all anymore. Fallout Radioactive was supposed to have been released last March, according to the website. I haven't heard anything about either of these before. It also appears that they were released by Avalon Interactive, which is Titus' European counterpart.

I just found this thing myself. I think the collection is more "legit"..released on 30 January. I really think I'm gonna buy it..for some reason.

EDIT: lol, okay..I pre-ordered it now. I don't know why, really..I have all three games already..but meh! :P

If I can find this set in Belgium, I'll buy it, put it in a sterile bag or something and save it until I get a son (well, I'll have to find a wife first...). Then, when he's twelve or something, I'm going to have a talk with him about the really, really good things in life, like sex with someone you really adore and the magnificent books by Kurt Vonnegut and the music of the Beatles and so on. Then, when he finally thinks his dad is a real stupid asshole with no taste at all, I'm going to open the sterile bag and give him the best games that were made during my teens (and twenties). Hehe. He's gonna love me for it.

There was a Fallout Radioactive box-set released in the UK in 2002 it contained Fallout, FO2, Tactics plus a Fallout Radioactive disc containing concept art, pdf manuals and the patches for all three games. Probably the same thing as the bonus disc that you would of got if you pre-ordered FOT but with the patches and manuals.

Fallout was on a white label budget disc but FO2 and FOT were on the same CD's as the original release.

Is Ineptplay getting any money off the sales of this pack? I am tempted to buy it, but wouldn't want to give them my money so that they can keep making their ultr@-k3wl c0ns0l3 g4m3z.

Of course, should it sell well, it will show CERTAIN PEOPLE that the Fallout fanbase is larger than they think...

Cover Art anyone else think that Fallout should of got the center spot?

Yep, you're right. FOT should not have gotten the center spot.

I'll keep my eyes wide open for this set, though. As I said before...

I just got Fallout - The Ultimate Collection in the mail today, so I figured I'd tell you guys what you're getting - just for confirmation.

I'm also from Sweden (Europe) so I don't know if there's any oddities or errors if you compare it to the US release of this box.

The name difference doesn't make the boxes Radioactive and Collection differ, really. It's just some name mix-up, or just different name in US and UK (or something).

The CDs doesn't come in some special packaging. It's just the CDs, inside those annoying plastic envelopes you might remember from FoT.

Fallout Radioactive: This is the bonus CD someone mentioned earlier. The name of it really is 'Radioactive', and it contains various "goodies". Most notably is probably the patches. Latest updates for all three games (Fo1 v.1.1, Fo2 v.1.2e, and FoT v.1.27), and also all the manuals. You get both English, German, and French versions of it all. It also includes the Bonus Mission for FoT.

Besides those crucial goodies, you also get the installation program for Acrobat Reader - so you can read the manuals - and heaps of artwork including animated GIF's, sketches, storyboards for the intro, early screens, concept artwork, and some semi-amusing ads. The bad thing is that it's almost entirely from FoT. I think there are two items in total that are from the other games, and they're both from Fo1. One is a collage of character models, while the other is a funny hand-doodle of Mr. Handyman. The rest is entirely FoT related. Now, I know FoT was sort of impressive visually (at least I thought so) and all, but I would definitely be more interested in seeing stuff like this from Fo1 and Fo2.

So that's what you get from the bonus CD. Nothing but rather uninteresting stuff from FoT. The patches and manuals are good though, I guess. Even though they're downloadable for free practically everywhere.

About the games then. Well, I don't think there's any difference whatsoever. Fo1 even still has the problems of installing on WinXP. Oh, and the Fo2 disc isn't that gold one anymore, like the UK version of the original release was.

So, that's about it. You don't really gain anything by purchasing this box, but I guess you could look at it as an ease-of-use collection. You get all the games, including the neccessary patches in one box. Slightly more expensive than to buy them all seperately, but it might prove a bit tricky locating them all.

There you go.

EDIT: I just noticed something about the game versions. The European version of Fallout 1 always installs in version 1.2. Apparently, it has always done that. So this box of goodies becomes interesting when they add the patch 1.1. I mean, what's up with that? :P

Aw, man. I've always installed the 1.1 patch because I've thought it installed 1.0 with the game. Does anyone know what this 1.2 patch fixes? I haven't found any documents anywhere. Oh, I've read it removed children though, but I've never ever seen a kid in the game. Didn't know they existed even.

There's no difference whatsoever with the bonus cd you got with FOT. The character models from FO1 and the Handyman sketch were on that disc as well, so nothing remotely new here.

Yes indeed, what's up with that. My version of Fallout 1 is also version 1.2. And doesn't the FO2 children patch fix the children in FO1 as well, or am I mistaking now (maybe I should try it out myself, but I'm sure I've heard something like that some time ago)?

Aah okay. I didn't know that. So that basically renders this box even more useless, eh? Oh well... :P

Aah, it does? I'll have to try that. I've never ever seen children in Fo1. Got me down a bit when I wanted to become a childkiller. :D
